In 2009 we bought a TT and joined the camping world. We bought a bumper pull because we found a great deal on one with a bunk house (4 grandsons who love to camp) but after a couple years using it my husband found being a tall guy that he needs more room and he wanted recliners so he could stretch out like he does at home. Sooooo, we took a little trip on our 41st anniversary this year and at our very first stop and very first fifth wheel (husband wanted a fifith wheel...I wanted king sized bed and more storage space) we found the one we wanted! We knew if we visited more dealerships that day we would become confused after looking at dozens of campers...so we bought the 2008 Sandpiper 345RET on the spot. We thought at first it was brand new because you could not tell that it had ever been used! Still smells new and we saved ourselves the hassle and traded our bumper pull in on it and got a deal we couldn't refuse. We (or I) did our homework deciding which brand we wanted, most bang for the buck, and what we could afford over the past six months or so when we (he)
decided we (he)
wanted a fifth wheel. We are so happy with it...we have had fun reloading all the stuff from the TT to the 5er and we go out and just sit in it some days...we have had lots of friends coming by to see it...camping friends who love it like we do. Now all we need to do is decide if we want a roof mount satellite or continue using our tripod one we had with the bumper pull. We will make our first trip in March. I tend to like to camp for a month at a time. He likes to be close enough so he can make a run back home for a few days if he needs to. We are retired so we can pretty much do what we want to. I suffer from arthritis and at first we were afraid I wouldn't be able to handle the steps up and down to the bedroom and bathroom, but these steps in the 34RET are no problem for me....so I am pleased!
Like I said....so glad to be here and meet new friends and I am sure I will have lots of questions about 5ers in the future!
