Jumpin both feet (gulp, gulp)

I've been shadowing this forum for a while now. Excellent information!!
Thanks everyone!!

Well, we put in an RV pad last spring. Only thing missing, the RV.. We've begun to remedy that. The middle of the month we ordered a new 3010 DS Sunseeker motorhome from RV Direct. Should be ready to pick up sometme
in March or so ..

Never owned a MH or TT or FT, so all this is really new to us. I've been googling and reading this and other Forums quite a bit. Still trying to get a handle on even just the acronyms (MH, FT, TT, GCWR, GVWR, UVW, FW, GW, BW ...) I really thought TV was television for a while, so I was pretty confused when reading some of the forum posts about tow vehicles.

So, I guess one of the next decisions, is whether we go to Orlando or Des-Moines to pick up our new toy... I know RV Direct has the option of New York as well, but since we are in Utah, I think that one is out.. The closest is Des-Moines, but really, between Florida and Des-Moines, would YOU really pick Des-Moines ? Work schedules and such may dictate that, but not my first choice ..

In any case, I still have lots of questions and lots to learn, so I am very grateful this forum exists and thanks in advance for putting up with any foolish newbie questions I might ask ..

Thanks,

Robert

Why did you go with a motor home instead of a pull behind?

However, this is really a good question, MH vs TT. I actually have a couple of good friends that swear by TV -- TT. The reality is that I don't own a truck. I also don't really like the idea of backing up a TT. One of my first projects will be to actually investigate flat towing my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Also, just in my personal opinion I think that one might really want a good reason for owning a good TV independent of a TT. Then it would make sense to actually have a TT. If someone was already a contractor and needed a good Heavy Duty truck for their work, then it would make a lot of sense to own a TT instead of a MH. In my case, I don't have a good reason to own a truck. If I did own a truck, I would feel that it would need to be used as one of our primary daily use vehicles and a good heavy duty truck costs a lot more to maintain than a more normal duty to work and back vehicle. but.. In my real opinion I think both TT and MH are both GREAT ideas !!!

Thanks,

Robert
