Just got new hauler!!

Hello all, name is Mike and just pulled the trigger on a new hauler this year at the rv expo, pick it up this weekend. We are pretty stoked as we have been tent camping for a while now. Did a lot of Lookin around at different haulers and found this one to be a good one. Bought a 2012 shockwave 24 footer. I have been lurking this forum and have found some very useful info. Hope to see y'all out camping sometime!!!

Congrats!

I picked up a similar unit at an RV show earlier this year as well. Still working out some kinks but its growing on me. CAREFULLY look through the unit thoroughly before heading out. I've found lots of small issues but more importantly I found a number of big issues suck as the lack of sealant around the exterior speakers and gaps at the triangular inserts at the top of the rear door.

I hope my Shockwave was just a "Friday" build and yours turns out better. My "cheap" 2009 Mallard had much better build quality than the more expensive Shockwave. I still really like the floor plan and look forward to many good years from this unit but just a little annoyed that it is taking a lot of work on my part to make it a quality product.

Thanks for welcome and info. I will write the items you mentioned down so that i don't forget to take a look at them. we have already seen a few little things at the show that we said we wanted fixed or compensated for. If you don't mind sharing any other major issues you had so that i can address them before i head out of the stealership.

I think this will work. Click hereto view the notes I sent to the service manager at the dealership. I initially left the unit at the dealership and within a week they had nearly everything fixed. Forest River wouldn't warranty the exterior window caulking as they claim it is unnecessary due to the internal rubber seal or some such thing. I plan to do it myself when the weather warms up.

Most important thing is to take your time and make sure everything is to YOUR standard. IMHO, its much easier to get the repairs completed if the unit is left sitting at the dealership. That way there is no question of what was or wasn't correct when it left the lot.

I used this helpful document as a guide for my most recent PDI.

Great idea to take a second, knowledgeable person along. My girlfriend accompanied me and though she doesn't know much about RV's, she has a eye for detail that I tend to lack. That was very helpful. I also had an excellent tech for the walk-thru but that can be hit or miss for each individual. Not much you can do to control that I suppose.

Good luck with the delivery and be sure to post up some pics of your new TH when you do get it home.

HEY BIOMAN: We ordered a Windjammer 3008W at the Chicago(Rosemont) show last month. It is being built now, but with the Diamond package which previously was not available for this Windjammer model. Delivery may be a tad longer than usual since newly introducing the Diamond package to this model, but they tell us before Memorial Day. Anyway this is our first post and HUGE thanks for the Pre Delivery Inspection checklist. It looks to be very helpful and we will be using it at our PDI. THANK YOU for making it available!

While I can't take credit for authoring the checklist, I'm happy to let others know where to find it.

Happy camping!

BioMan i used the checklist you gave me today for my PDI and guess what, we did not come home with it today. Found tons of little nit noid things like graphics pealing and pantry drawers not closing or opening correctly. although we found nothing major besides the fact that the rear beds would not come down, the motor was blown. Dealer replacing it free of charge and one set of blinds was messed up. All in all the unit was not really prepped for us to pick up and the PDI guy was not there when we arrived he was 2 hours late. No biggie really i liked the time alone to do the checklist but then when i was done it was a good 30 minutes of waiting on him to arrive. Needless to say the manager bought my wife and i dinner and they are delivering the unit to our house. Thanks again for the checklist i will recommend it to future buyers that i may know.
