Smile Just spent our 1st night in our new 5-er

Hi all. We are new to the Forum and to hauling a 5th wheel. We recently sold our 38' Class A Motorhome and replaced it with a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 litre Hemi and a brand new 2013 Rockwood 8265WS.

We cooked dinner in it last night and spent our first night in it (right here in our driveway). We have already decided we need a memory foam topper for the Serta mattress - as it is a little harder than we are used to. We plan to spend the night tonight on the airbed - just to try that out too.

We have 2 Emergency Exit windows (with screens) and the red push through handle with notches on it. One is in the dining area, the other in the bedroom. They both say "Exit, for Emergency Use only". Does that mean we cannot or should not open them for ventilation? I have already tried and the dining room one opens and closes fairly easily. The bedroom one buckles a little. I hope someone can give us some advice. Looking forward to learning from all the experiences shared on this forum. (Already having fun with it in Kemptville, Ontario)

Congrats on your 2013 Rockwood 8265WS. DW bought a memory foam topper for our Serta upgraded mattress and it made a world of difference. Go ahead and use those Emergency windows for ventilation. The bedroom one will probably loosen up after a few uses.

Welcome to the forum! Like Wiscampsin said, use the windows. The emergency exit ones have screens that pop out and windows that open for exit. They still function like the others for ventilation.
