Lawton Okie

Hello all....been a member here for about a month....thought I would introduce myself. Just purchased a Salem 36BHBS TT and my TV is a 2011 Ford F150 Eco Boost with an E2 WDH. Just got back from the maiden voyage to Austin, Texas where we stayed at the Oak Forest RV Park. Truck pulled great but will be getting helper springs for the rear and some additional sway control. Had some white knuckle moments a few times when a big rig would pass. Look forward to learning all I can here and hope to be able to help others out as well.

Welcome!

Hate to say that the E2 was the wrong choice for a 1/2 ton pulling that long of a trailer!
Should have bought the real 4 point Equal-i-zer or Reeese Dual Cam.

I agree on the WDH....the E2 was one I got the dealer to throw in at no charge when I purchased the TT. Definitely checking out my options to make pulling this thing a little more enjoyable. Thanks for the welcomes and advice.

Doc...it is a bit long.....should have considered a bit shorter. Just finished a little research on the 4 point Equal-i-zer hitch and don't see much difference between it and the E2. Is the difference in how the trunnion bars are connected to the hitch head? Can't see how that improves things that much. Would I be on track if I kept my E2 and added a pair of Curt sway controls?

Which E 2 do you have? From what I saw yours may not be the 4 point wdh which is so much better. Later RJD

Did you set it up or the dealer? If the dealer did it, I about guarantee it needs adjusted and fined tuned for your set up.

Well.....did not intend for this to turn into a thread about hitches, but......I have the Fastaway 92-00-1000 E2, 10,000lb WDH and yes the dealer did set it up. I agree, it looks like it needs some tweaking. My plan is to re-setup the hitch per installation instructions, add helper springs to my TV and add a pair of CURT sway control arms, one each side.

The 4 point is WD and sway all in one. While I have never used the e2, my original set up required the separate sway friction things. I was never happy with them and although they worked they did not do well IMO. I was only using a 20ft mini light... With the 4 point I felt little sway from the trailer, now a 26ft trailer on my 1500. Now with the 2500 I feel nothing.

NEVER have heard of someone adding friction anti sway bars, to something like the E2 or the 4pt Equalizer.

Bikendan......I think the friction style sway controls are normally mounted to a standard hitch when sway control is needed only. In my case the E2 is not enough so I can spend $34.00/EA on a pair of CURT sway control arms or $500.00 for a 4 point Equalizer......my decision is still up in the air.

have you checked RVW or E-trailer for the 4 point Equalizer?
they have free shipping.
and will your dealer refund the money if you return the E2?

Bikendan.....I have checked e-trailer for the equalizer hitch....best price I found so far. Have not contacted the dealer yet on a refund for the E2 hitch. I have about a month and a half before our next trip which will only be 3 hours away.....thanks!

This is a typical hitch head for a Hensley or ProPride hitch. It has an extra ball to each side for additional sway control arms as an addition to the trunnion bars. If I weld a ball plate to each side of an E2 or a 4 point Equalizer and mount 2 CURT fiction sway control bars, I would have a similar setup for way less money ......... thoughts?
