Lewis Clark trail

We have been tent campers for many years and just decided to get a new Rockwood a-frame hard side tent camper to tow behind our GMC Sierra. The camper will make us less vulnerable to bad weather, right? We are thinking of camping along the Lewis/Clark trail for our first outing in May, staring in MO and ending in ID before heading back to WI. Any advice about places to visit or stay and places to skip would be appreciated.

A lot of people driveway camp before there first voyage to eliminate some issues that may arise 100's of miles away and to familiarize themselves with an unfamiliar unit.

I second that!
I strongly suggest that you take it out at least once for a weekend at a CG nearby. Our first trip was about 20 minutes from the house so we could easily drive home or to a store.

Congrats on your A-frame! Ditto about what the other two members have already posted. Driveway camping is a good way to get to know your RV before hitting the road.

Several state campgrounds near Kansas City along the Lewis and Clark trail. We stayed at Weston Bend last fall, it is very nice, though small and hilly. The trails along the river bluffs are amazing:

We have not yet been to Lewis and CLark State Park. It had some damage from floods in 2011 but I think all has been re-opened.
