Locked Out of my Rig

I have 2000 FR cardinal fifth wheel. I had my truck stolen with all my keys in it. To get new ones from mfg, I need the VIN. Is there a vin that can be seen without opening the door? My paperwork is inside.

The only identifying numbers i can see are on the OR RV certificate of compliance. Can these be used to get the vin?

Been there, done that minus the vehicle stolen. I have started taking photos of ALL vital auto/Travel Trailer VIN, license #, insurance info etc. It stays on the phone and is readily available in case of theft, or lockout. I also record my pistol serial numbers and any electronics this way. Helps law enforcement to have these things in the event of theft. You can bet they will ask you for it.

Call your local tax collector where you get your license plate. They will have the vin on the registration..

I don't have the license plate. I haven't registered in my name yet. I bought it from a lot.

Your vin is usually on the frame somewhere. does your lock cylinder have any markings or numbers on it? a lot of times camper locks are keyed the same.

VIN should be on a small metal plate 3" X 2" near the hitch. It should also be on the title you were given when you bought it or the bill of sale.

The VIN is on the sticker on the side of the trailer. Listed with manufacture date and weight capacities.

Hi,

Years ago, after a chilly hour or so helping a camping buddy find a way to jimmy open a vulnerable trailer window, I hid a spare set of keys on the outside of my fiver.

Actually found them convenient to use several times when I went to the storage yard without my regular keys, saving me a trip back home.

FWIW.

There is a possibility that your door lock is one of the common key models. If you have any local friends with an RV you might ask to try their key

It’s a 2000 model. I don’t think they did that 19 years ago...

My suggestion would be to call the lot where you bought the trailer. They should have a record of the VIN if you can't find it on the trailer.

If not, you're probably going to have to call a locksmith. Did the vehicle come with any type of roadside assistance? Usually, a lockout service is included.

You are correct. The white factory UVW weight sticker will be inside the trailer, on the inside of a cabinet door.

Call a locksmith, have him make a key then get some duplicates then put them in one of your outside storage compartments. I have used mine several times and i am a locksmith. Good luck..

Even though it is not a cardinal my Wildcat has it stamped on the bracket where the pin box is mounted.

forest river marked fivers in the following places since 1990

Stamped into the "Pin Box" frame. (Not the adjustable sleeve)

Stamped into a tag which is mounted to the "Pin Box" frame.

Stamped in the entrance door frame (not the door) just above the striker plate. (Found when outside, facing the doorway, with the door open).

Stamped into a steel cross member in the lower front

Compartment (accessed from the front of the unit below the overhang i.e. the front jack leg area) on the driver's side.
