Long Time Camper. First Time TT Owner

Been camping for about 50 years. Just purchased a 2013 28BH from a private party. This looks like a great place to learn about the rig.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I managed to get my signature set up with my TT and TV info.

I'm pulling a 2012 Forest River 28BH Patriot Edition (Cherokee) with a 2011 Ram 2500 Quad Cab Cummins.

This past weekend was our shakedown run. We found several electrical gremlins that I'm working through.

1. Power rear stabilizer worked for a bit and then stopped working. I've checked the little breaker switch inside the trailer frame.

2. Exterior light won't turn off.

3. TV antenna has poor reception.

4. Touch Audio panel works intermittently.

Once I get those worked out, the modifications will begin!

A little bit about my wife's and my camping history:

We both grew up in pickup bed slide-in pop-up Skamper campers as kids.

I also love adventure camping, backpacking and bushcrafting. My first solo camp out was when I was eight years old.

After getting married, we started tent/car camping. A few years later, we inherited my in-laws' 1970 vintage Skamper (that my wife grew up in). We upgraded that, a few years later, to a newer pickup slide-in, pop-up camper. After a few more years, we sold that camper and bought a pull-behind pop-up camper. The space was nice but putting it up and taking it down in the rain wasn't much fun. That brings us to today and our Forest River 28BH.

I've checked all the coax connections except the one at the antenna on the roof. (I own a company that does high-end home theater installations and integration so I know what loose connections do to signals.)

The compartment box idea is a good one. However, I think the switch/breaker is OK. I can hear the relay click in the switch panel when I press the button on the remote.

Sounds like you're not a newbie, but did you check for a button near the cable outlet? I'm not sure what exactly they do but if you have one it has to be switched depending on whether you are using the antenna or cable.

Yes, the power booster was on.

There's no switch to change from cable to antenna that I can find. I was able to receive over-the-air TV signals but they were very week. We were camping with friends and they were able to receive much better quality signals.

You have to set tv to cable, or air, and scan for channels
