Maiden Trip completed

Hi everyone--
DH and I made our maiden trip in a new 2014 Salem 27RKSS about a month ago and are hoping to get another trip or two in before having to winterize.
I am hoping that I can get some great ideas about fixing up storage ideas that I can handle with minimum effort as DH is not much of a handy man and I am not as coordinated as I use to be. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
We are fairly new to Travel Trailers and are a bit intimated.

Congrats on your new TT! (I always google people's and yours is similar to our 2904SS...we love the little bench, reminds us of the old 50's diners!!)

Over the past 5-years (two TT's), we've learned a ton of information from our dealer (who I probably e-mail way too much but he's so nice he always finds time to answer) to watching Youtube videos.

You can, also, learn new things by adding a "walktrhough" to your TT name...I just searched for "2014 Salem 27RKSS walkthrough" and got back a few longer videos.

I have a bad back from my military Special Operations days, so loading/unloading the trailers has always been an issue. But we love using the big, plastic bins (with lids that stay on) from Walmart or Home Depot and load 3-4 into the back of the pickup and then load up the trailer when we get to our destination. (Except for the cold food, I'll get the TT the day before we leave and turn on the LP gas tanks so the fridge can start cooling...usually takes 6-10 hours to get it cool enough to load with food.)

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new trailer!

A "walk-through" is the inspection you do before taking delivery of your new trailer. It is also called a PDI (pre delivery inspection) but the PDI really should be done prior to you arriving so that any issue can be taken care of without delay to you.

Are you using a computer or smart device to view the website?

I use both am I mini Mac at home and kindle hd at work the service man at the dealership was good about checking for leaks and operations. When I get home and settled in for the evening, I will check everything out on.here again. Thanks for help and understanding.

Just like with many programs there can be more than one way to do a task. Check out the threads about mods. You can find lots of good ideas. I will try to find the link but someone showed me how to make shelves without drilling by using peg board for the frame.

I liked that peg board mod and am thinking surely I can do that. Just got to fine the old jigsaw or borrow one. Thanks for the heads up.

I like the concept too. Let me how it works out for you. Maybe someday I will give it a try too. In the meantime I am using baskets to keep items separated but would like shelves instead.

I tried the peg board mod but since I could not find any plastic pegboard hooks, I used 1/4 inch dowels. Worked fine for us. We did find out that both closets are not the same size. There is enough difference that you need to be sure to measure each individually as we had dowels that were too short on one but just right on the other. Lost about 7 dowels that had been cut for first closet. Did not have enough wire shelving for 4 shelves so we use scrap pegboard to form one shelf

I had a hard time locating the hooks at Home Depot but finally came upon them after asking a couple of employees.

I thinking of doing this for my pantry--am not sure yet the door is only about 3-1/2 inches and the inside is something like 15 inches wide and 18 inches deep. Any suggestions on what to do with this.
