Maiden voyage in Rockwood 8311SS
We recently joined the FRF and I have been posting a lot in other threads in this forum. This is the first forum I've participated in. Thanks to the forum members for the rich source of information, and thanks to those who have replied to my posts. This is our second trailer, and first with slide-outs. What a difference THEY make! We feel like we're towing a luxury condominium along behind us. We upgraded from a 22' and just got this 35' trailer a few weeks ago and are making our first trip in it now. We're at Thunderbird RV Resort in Monroe, WA. A HUGE northwest storm came through the day we planned to arrive and there were flooded roads and falling trees as a result. Fortunately we delayed our departure for the campground for that day as a result of the storm. We couldn't have made it to the campground. I wouldn't have wanted to back down the closed two-lane roads pushing the new trailer. The next day, we drove through areas that had experienced about 4 feet or more of water across the road, that were down to about one foot. The trees had been cleared, to allow one lane through. After the arrival adventure, we were able to get a site next to the river, fortunately it's about 15-20 feet ABOVE the already swollen river. We're testing the heater in the 35 degree outdoor weather conditions. Anyway, we're glad to be part of the Forest River family, and are looking forward to many years of fun in our new trailer.
