New and searching in SC

Good morning all!...I've been lurking for a few days and am really impressed with how much information you all have here. My wife and I are now "empty nesters" and have talked for a few years about buying a travel trailer to see the country. We have looked at quite a few units and have, for the most part, narrowed it down to FR Wildwood 28DBUD or a Palomino SolAire UL 28QBSS. We like the bunk configuration for potential visitors but are realistic about the comfort level they provide. We also do have 2 65lb dogs that we may bring with us once in a while also. My only RV experience is with a Layton 32' slide that I owned in the early 90's but left at a campground in Ct. as a "getaway home" for my family. I'm doing a lot of reading here and am looking forward to learning and sharing as we move forward with our selection. Tow vehicle info is below...

Well it's been a few days and we are back to square one...Seems like every time we look, we find something else to consider...bunk size, bedroom style...all sorts of stuff. When we went back to look at the 28DBUD, we were VERY disappointed with the build quality. Lots of lose trim, and lots of warped moulding on 2 brand new units. Also the SolAire was one of the "narrow" ones. I'm a big guy, but even if I lost half of my weight, I wouldn't be comfortable in that bathroom!! Now we've found some Grey Wolf's that we like, but one model (27DBS) is 4 1/2 hours away...frustrating.

Welcome.

P.S. I'll be in York, SC a week from Thursday! I'm 'camping' in my daughter's new house driveway! LOL

FWIW, DW and I spent over 13 months looking for a camper before we bought. We thought it over............and over and over and over. We asked more questions, about 1 a day for 13 months...than the law allows. We had a bunk model Grey Wolf, loved it, but it had no 'living area'. Nowhere to sit inside when we had to.

Ended up with what we have........after buying a new truck to pull it! And we bought 12 hours from home, to save a bundle!! And happy we did.

These folks know it all. More than any dealer. Ask away, ask details, etc. But be patient when buying, is my only advice.

I drove 3 hours one way to get the camper I wanted. Good luck and take your time finding the unit that you will be happy with.

Narrowing down all of the choices is hard. I did a list of needs VS wants. In our case it helped us narrow down to a short list.

welcome from the other Carolina,..... one thing that was important to us when looking, was bathroom access while traveling w/out having to extend any slides to get to it,,...... the Micro Lite 25KS/Mini Lite 2503S w/large bathroom which has its own outside door was just what we were looking for, we love it,..... hope yall find the perfect rig also,....... happy trailering,..........

Well.....We did it. We pick up our new TT at Bob Ledfords next Friday!!!! After looking at well over 200 units at dealerships all over SC, and being all over the place with our "wants and needs" we decided on a Grey Wolf 25RL. Small, light, and no slides. We spent a hour and a half sitting, laying down, moving around, opening, closing, and everything we could think of that we would encounter and it just works for us. We are so excited!!!
Interesting thing happened. I went to get insurance through Progressive (already have them for vehicles etc.) and they said they could quote me a price, but couldn't actually write the policy until the state of emergency was lifted for SC. No biggie since we have almost a week, but never would have thought it would be an issue.
