New, but may have made a mistake!
My name is Clyde. My wife Linda and I live in California. I ran across this Forum and thought it was great, so I joined - not realizing that "Forest River" is a 'brand' and not just the name of a Forum.
Now the bad news  ...we are new owners of a 'Little Guy' 6 Wide Tear Drop trailer with solar, cable TV, galley with stove and sink and a king size 'memory foam' bed. I have made quite a few modifications to it and other camping related items to make our camping experience more comfortable and pleasurable.
I don't know if we are welcome here or not, but if we are allowed to stay, we might just learn something new  . I would love to pull our 'Strongback' camp chairs up to your campfire and get to know others that love camping as much as we do.
I am recovering from having 15 vertebrae 'fused' with a lot of hardware to stop the progression of Scheuermann's Disease and Scoliosis. I am 66 years old and still have another year to (hopefully) fully recover from a 15 1/2 hour surgery. Still a lot of discomfort and muscle tightness to deal with, but enough with all the "cheerfulness"...we would like to  .

Welcome, I also watch RV.net. I don't feel so bad about my back surgery, it was only 6 hours.

Of course you are welcome here, and nobody is going to kick you off the forum just because you don't own a Forest River product.

You wont find a better forum than this one and even if you have a different brand all the makes are similar in construction and problems. Dont go away!

Welcome,
People here tend to be very warm, helpful and welcoming. It seems that RV snobs don't tend to last long here.
We all know that we enjoy the same thing and try hard to help and educate each other. Many times the forum will help even if the dealers sometimes won't or can't.

Well, thank you all for welcoming Linda and me. I am just having some breakfast and turned on the computer to check messages and 'Dan, Kelly and Maddy' were the last to welcome us. Being clear over here in California, we are about the last ones to hear comments You are all very kind and understanding...and I appreciate your well wishes concerning my back and recovery. I just had my 2nd acupuncture treatment yesterday and it may be helping. It's a little too soon to tell yet though.
I almost feel guilty about calling someone a "Filthy Beast", but I wish you nothing but continued good health with your fusion also. Whether it's 6 hours or 15 hours, that's a lot of trauma and pain. Best wishes to you.
Even though I haven't addressed each one of you personally, please know that I read and appreciated all your comments!

Having 30 years as a tent and popup camper, I found this "forum" in July/August, while researching "hybrids". The help/advice/comments were so helpful with regard to what to look for and what to avoid. No one at the site seems to be "selling" something. I would have made several errors regarding my purchase of a hybrid, had I not read the helpful comments. Experience is a great teacher. Of course, as a retired teacher, I was not too bad in English and social studies, but those experiences did not teach me anything about travel trailers. The people at this site are quite amazing as educators and mentors.

Welcome!!! I too have had back surgery although nothing near what you have endured. I had mine a little over a year ago and am just now feeling somewhat back to normal and painkiller drug free so hang in there! Pull those chairs up to the fire and stay awhile and best of luck on a full and speedy recovery.

Thank you so much Steve and Michele. I am so happy for you and for getting off pain meds completely. Thank you also for the warm welcome and encouragement. I still have constant muscle tension all across my back and have to take Percocet 3 times a day. I just completed my second acupuncture treatment yesterday. Really too soon to tell if it is doing me any good. I was instructed to start taking Magnesium Glycinate (400 mg) per day and it will start relaxing the muscle tension plus help to build the 'proper' bone structure that we all need. It is also a 'heart healthy' supplement.

A couple of our camping trips
OK, Capucine, here are a couple more pictures 'just for you'...others may look 'at your own risk'!!
These are pictures from our camping trip to southern Oregon and the Sequoia National Park. We set up a Paha Que Wilderness 10'x10' tent that is custom made to suction cup to the passenger side of the Little Guy door. The other smaller tent is our shower/changing room tent. I made our shower from a 5 gallon SS soda container, a small yet powerful air compressor and a 54,000 btu propane burner to heat the water in no time at all. If we have pedestal power (30 amp), we use a 1000 watt submersible heater instead of the propane burner. Then we attach a dishwasher sprayer with a 6 foot hose to the tank and 'life is good'!! I built a small wooden stand that is coated with polyurethane to keep the tank standing upright in the shower. The air compressor is a DC unit with a Square D pressure regulator wired in to turn the compressor on at 30 psi and off at 60 psi as many times as necessary. It works fantastic!
I can't help my wife make a living at this time, but I love tinkering with things to make our camping more enjoyable. Well enough talking...here are some pictures...if I can get the process figured out!
