New Cherokee 274RK owner

Hello all. My name is Nick. My girlfriend and I just ordered a 2015 Cherokee 274RK from the local rv dealer. It is our first brand new camper but not our first camper. We started with a Viking pop up (doesn't everybody?) three years ago. A year later we sold the pu and purchased a super clean 2002 Mallard 25J travel trailer. "The Mighty Duck" as I named it was our summer away home for the past two years. We never had any plans of getting anything else until we toured the Cherokee at a local rv show last Sunday. We instantly fell in love with it and put money down to order one. I just brought The Duck home from storage today (on one of the coldest days on record -6 with -20 windchills outside currently) as I have it sold to its new owners who want to come pick it up this Saturday.

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 with an L83 engine and Z85 towing package with the factory trailer brake controller. I use a Reese dual cam setup with 1200 lb bars to hook everything up. I'm a seasoned tow'er (sounds right, right? lol) as I have been towing trailers since I could drive. I pull a 4500 lb snowmobile trailer around in our Michigan winters too. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little apprehensive about how the new trailer is going to pull. 8,000 in place of 5,000 is a sizable jump. All should be fine as I will just take my time. First trip is already planned for Memorial Day which will take us about 150 miles from home to Northern Michigan.

I can't wait to look around the forum and learn as I go. As you could guess by my screen name, I am a GM certified master tech by trade. Today I ride a desk helping other GM dealership techs diagnose GM vehicle chassis and electrical systems. Hopefully I can be of some help to others here in those areas as well.

Got it home and loaded last weekend. Taking it on its first outing this weekend. My Silverado looks little hooked to it but pulls it well.
