Congratulations on your new Sandpiper and welcome to the forums from Huntsville, AL!!

So what are your plans? Are you teleworkers or did you hit the lottery?

We will retire in 2 years and plan on going fulltime then!

Our work situation

Lol we WISH we would have won the lottery! That would make things so much simpler hahaha! No we didn't, but it is a good question since everyone wants to know if you do work on the road, how you make it happen.
So my husband does telecommute, and he's been doing so from our sticks and bricks home for about 9 years now. He's the breadwinner of the family and I'm a stay at home mom that home schools our three kiddos, ages 9, 7 and 3. Our situation makes it much easier to transition into the fulltime lifestyle, since we don't have to get used to telecommuting and pull the kids out of school.
There is one thing that makes our story a little different than most fulltimers that telecommute is our internet data needs. The work my husband does requires MASSIVE amounts of data, like he can use 2-3 gigs in a day. The only way to get around that is to stay at parks that allow you to run cable to your rig. And most all of the education materials we use for our kids is online as well, so getting internet this way just makes the best sense financially right now.
So our plans are to stay at a parks for about a month at a time give or take, and then every other weekend or so take the rig out camping or drive to our new location. This is how we plan to do things for now and who knows what the future holds.
We are just so excited to become a part of such a wonderful community of people and make some awesome family memories.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

That is great. What an opportunity for the kids also to lean about History as you travel. It sure is a great way to see America. Later RJD

That is awesome! One thing though, I did not know there were CGs out there that would let you run a hardwire to your camper - that would be awesome for those who needed it! How do you arrange this (not for me per se, but I am curious).

So far every RV park I've called and asked if we coule have whatever cable company services the park come out and hardware our rig, they've said no problem. We of course have to pay to do that, and that can get a little expensive. It just depends on what needs to be done, and it could be as easy as a $20 fee to a steep $100. But for us, that's so much cheaper than any other alternative and it's just one of those expenses we have to budget for in order to live this lifestyle.
In comparison, when we looked into purchasing the huge amount of wireless data my husband would need for his work, it would have run us around $500 a month, give or take $100. So yeah, paying the fee is much cheaper.
I've also come across a surprising number of RV parks that already have Internet hardwired to their sites, especially in the designated month or longer sites. More and more parks are realizing that providing really good Internet to their customers can make a huge difference. It absolutely hands down does for us and I think that if more people in the community started talking to RV parks and encourage them to really invest in making sure their park has really good Internet access, it could encourage a whole bunch more people to RV.
