New first-time trailer owner in Oregon

Hello. New to the forum and new to travel trailering. Just picked up a 2012 Rockwood Mini Lite 2109s. Just in time to put it up in storage for the winter. I will be pulling this trailer with a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Can't wait use it. Any advice on pit-falls to avoid would be greatly appreciated. Great forum. Thanks.

Welcome from NE Fla., about as far away as can be & stay in the continental US. Been to your great state, was fantastic! 2109 is a great little TT. I know you will enjoy it. Too bad you have to wait so long.

Thanks for the welcome, and glad you enjoyed Oregon. It's not too bad. Hopefully you got to visit Crater Lake.

A few storage tips (I'm sure more will be coming)

Winterize your water system to avoid freeze damage.

Keep the battery on a maintainer charger.

Check and or repack wheelbearings (unless they are the sealed type).

Check carefully for any cracks/gaps/holes that can allow rodents, etc. to spend the winter in your trailer. Don't leave any possible nesting material for them (TP, pillows, towels, etc.)

I like to spread out cheap tarps under the trailer if storing on a dirt or gravel area. Having constant wet ground below can increase rusting of metal and moisture saturation of wood flooring. This is especially important if the trailer has ever been driven on a salted road.

You have winter in Oregon? What's up with that?

We go until the snow flies and then some. You should take her out for a short and sweet shakedown. Still lots of time to winterize.

And to the forum!

Not much difference between the 2012 & 2013.

Take it out camping to see if everything works as expected. Our dealer had a couple of minor things to fix after our 1st time out.

Note that the TV signal boost is a small button with an equally small green light, it runs off the battery so shut it off when not in use. I do dry camp a lot though.

Check the slide motor attached to the wall under the sofa as well. Mine pulled off.

Maybe just search the Rockwood section here for the 2109s. There isn't much to do as it is a pretty good little TT.
