New Flagstaffer

We are John and Tammy, (in random order) and we just ordered a 2010 Flagstaff 831fkbss. Processing the financial paperwork as we speak and in about 2 weeks we hope to attach it to the Excursion jerk-hook and tow it to a campground in IA, close to where i work at the moment, (crane operator) and keeping my fingers crossed that i won't have to stack extra space heaters ceilinghigh to get it toasty inside
Planning on living in it for most of the year and years to come, with, hopefully, a few wintermonths of lay-off so i can stay at the house with the wife and my dogs.
I lived on a sailyacht for 8 years in the Netherlands (genuine Dutchie here) so keeping the water out and the heat in is not really new to me
I am glad to have found all you guys and have been reading attentively to all posts and i seem to have made the right choice to go with Forest river, so far.
I wish everybody happy trails and a troublefree camping experience and who knows? We may meet someday on a campground!
Looking forward beeing a part of this site...

Hello, John & Tammy.

Welcome to FRF.
Post pictures of your new Flagstaff when it arrives. You shouldn't have a problem keeping it warm. It's well insulated with a heated under-belly and holding tanks. The gas furnace does use it's share of propane.($$).

Enjoy the forums,

Welcome to the forums John and Tammy.

If you are going to be spending extended time in cold weather, I suggest you get a couple of electric heaters to supplement the gas. The trailer furnace will run through gas very quickly. The other appliances will not use much but that furnace will really use it.

I also have the Flagstaff 831FKBSS (2009) and other than a few minor issues, Its been a great trailer! The floorplan is great and gives plenty of room to move about. A small suggestion, If you plan on winter camping in a campground, You might want to consider purchasing a small electric heater to help keep the cost of propane replenishment. Welcome to the Forums and Good luck on you new Trailer!

Welcome to the forum, and the Flagstaff family! My V lite's heater heats up the trailer very well, and they are well insulated and have ducted vents. You'll be very warm! I won't mention the propane usage, since that's been very well covered. You take care, and again, Welcome to the forum! Randy

Thanks for the welcome and the heater(s) will sure be there!
My dealer already informed me about the propane usage in the cold so i will be prepared... for that part that is..hehehe
Thinking about one of those electric fireplaces and will look at that when i get the trailer and see if i can find a spot for permanent installation.
They roughly give you 4500 BTU so another heater, at least, for the bedroom too.
I did pick the Flagstaff for it's insulation value's (on paper) and, of course, the floorplan with the front kitchen.
Good to hear that the insulation actually works!
Thanks,

John
