New Forum Members, Hopefully Soon to Be Owners

Hi,
We are in the market for an RV and feel that we have settled on what we want. As much research as we have done we still have lots to learn. We have never been RV'ers before and have decided that the Forester 3121DS is probably the best fit for us. We have just found this forum and hope to pick the brains of other owners with regard to their satisfaction levels with the 3121DS, any real downsides to ownership of this particular model, issues with factory and/or dealer support and other things that we don't even know to ask yet. We are actually looking to buy but we want to be sure....or at least as sure as we can be. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. If you've never had a camper before I suggest spending some real time in the Forester 3121DS and imagine how you'd live in it. Where would you put things like food, pots & pans, dishes, clothes, etc? If you had a rainy day or night how comfortable would you be. Are the tanks large enough for an extended stay depending on how many people you camp with. Do you have a dog? Where will the food & water bowls go? If you have a cat where will the litter box go? I know these are small things, but things that should be considered. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the reply. I absolutely agree that the best way to determine what we really need and want is to spend actual time in the RV. I wish I knew of a good way to do that. All we've been able to do is a walk through and walk around of the model we like. And now I find out that FR may have discontinued it. Sadly it is the only model we've found, in any name, that has a shower that is big enough to accommodate those of us with bad backs and need the extra room. Does FR use the same shower in other models? If so we haven't found any. The 3121DS is the only one we've found like it. Thanks.

"All we've been able to do is a walk through and walk around of the model we like."

Go back and let the dealer know you're interested. Ask/tell them that you'd like to spend some time in the unit alone (no salesperson), maybe 1/2 to 1 hour. Tell them why you want to spend time in it, they should understand. Don't know where you're located but if it's cold where your are maybe they can bring the unit into a service bay, or fire up the furnace for you. If it is indeed discontinued maybe they will work out a good deal for you.

Thanks again for your information. It does seem that the model we are interested in has been discontinued and we are trying to find a dealer that would like to make a really good deal on it if they have one still in stock or can still order one from the factory. We truly appreciate the help you are giving us. Do the dealers generally allow test drives?
