New from Katy, TX
Just bought a 2011 Salem 26TBUD at the show in Houston. Will pick it up for it's inaugural voyage next Thursday... Going to Lake Sam Rayburn where I have tent camped for over 40 years! Will be great to snuggle up next to the wife because I want to instead of have to!
I have been watching this forum for a couple of weeks before making my final decision. There's no better advertisement than actual "users" of a particular brand. While there are not many posts on here about the particular model we bought... the overwhelming majority here are fans of the Forest River product.
Thanks for the recommendation... and see you out there!
Scott

Welcome Scott from Katy! I guess you'll drive right by me on your way to Rayburn. Where do you camp there? I scoped it out a year or two ago and have been trying to get a trip up there, but it just hasn't worked yet.

I do drive by the "columns" everytime... I camp at San Augustine park. Mainly because I like to fish that end of the lake. The kids like the swimming area there and the "little store" that's 1000 yards outside the front gate, walking distance for an ice cream. One of the main draws for the wife was the always clean bathrooms and individual shower rooms in the park... guess that's not a concern now that we have indoor plumbing!
We're picking up our trailer Thursday and headed that way... maybe we'll see you out there sometime!

Very cool Scott...thanks for the info. I think I can see why you like to fish that part of the lake. When we were scoping, we just looked around the dam area (far south) and when the wind started, it got pretty choppy there. It looks to be a bit more secluded (from the wind) over there. I have to make it a point to get up there this summer. You may indeed see me there.

One of the best parts is you don't have to leave The Republic! There are tons of state parks throughout Texas. Welcome.

Let's don't turn this into a "Texas is the biggest and the best with deserts, mountains, forests and prairies" thread or we might offend some of the lessor states! LOL... It is true though. We have it all here!

My wife and I have been living in central Illinois for about 8 years now. We came up from Conroe Texas; I sure miss the winter camping at Huntsville state park. Have fun with your new rig.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I don't imagine we will cross paths soon so we won't have to discuss how much larger our province is than Texas. Hey just kidding. Good luck with the new rig and you will probably continue to use the showers at the park as the one in the trailer doesn't last as long but does supply a good bit of storage space. Now get out there and enjoy yourselves. Old Guys
