For now we have 2006 f150 5.4l trition with max 8600lbs with 3.55. Truck Max combined weight is 14000. When we moved out here and weighed our truck with us in it with all the travel goodies and luggage it was 5900lbs (max for truck is 7050) just need the added weight of a new 15lb baby and hitch..
We are looking at a newer truck with heavier tow load just havent found that magical moment where what you need/what meets the price range you can do. we dont plan on any massive long distance or maxing it out to weight of 7790 for some time.. We dont own much camping gear right now.Few chairs, fishing gear, couple laterns.. But we should be perfectly fine to tow around to local beach areas and lakes right if we stay below travel trailer weight of 6800lbs...
we are using the Equalizer tow hitch with sway and weight distrubting
Im sure i know the answer but like i said I did way to much blof theory readings where they go from exterme of no more than 50% of max trailers to people saying the pull 100-200 over max. Just confused myself.
First welcome from Huntsville AL from a fellow F150 owner
Second, the truck manufacturers over engineer their trucks so you should be OK - if anything it will just add wear and tear to your TV (take a look at what we are drawing for example
Now, having said that I would not want to drag your rig up Mount Whitney every weekend LOL!
