Hi Guys.. Just to let you know, Ive had very little RV'ing experience. I had a 28 foot Prowler that I just sold. I had it for 13 years but most of its life it was sitting on deer leases. The Wife and I have been motorcycle riding now since 06 and we are looking at getting a work and play 30WRS next year and wanting to hit the road with our Harley along with us. I have a few questions. From research I have found that the 30WRS has a GVWR of 13000 lbs. I am thinking about getting a Dodge Ram or Chevy 2500 with the gas engine. I have had desiel trucks and they are very expensive to maintain so I would like to get a gas truck. Please what is your opinions, experinces, advice, etc... Dodge and Chevy both say that they can tow up to 14,000 lbs with the right rear end. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

IMHO, I wouldn't even consider anything but diesel to haul 13,000+ and yes, it WILL end up being +. There is no sense cutting the GWs too close. A gasser might fit into the parameters for your truck, but why cut it too close.
You get what you pay for in a truck. This why they build diesel trucks to begin with. Just my personal opinion from my personal experience. I'm sure others will have their opinions also.

I think a 2500 might be a little too close, you could goto a 1 ton and still get a gas engine that may add some more room for 13,000lbs.

Greeting from SW Idaho and welcome to the site.

I would like to suggest you look at some one ton trucks, check the door sticker weight ratings and price difference between 3/4 ton and the one ton truck.

You might not need the one ton now but what about down the road?
