Question New guy to the forum

Hello all, just intro myself, my wife and I just purchased 2012 Salem Villa Estate 392qbec. So far love it, just have a question though...There is a ceiling fan in the main living area and the blades cross the AC unit, seems like a strange place to place it. If the airflow is coming downward on the fan with the AC unit on, does it not compete with each other for the air flow? with the fan on it seems to hinder the cooling process.

Ceiling fan should be blowing downwards, same as a/c, therefore assisting it. At least that's how the one in our s&b is working. Extractor fans suck air upwards.
