Have been fifth-wheel shopping for a year now and we really like the Rockwood Signature UL models. We plan to purchase the 8282 WS early 2014. We'll retire 2014 as well and dream of traveling exstensivly around the entire US, Canada, up to Alaksa. As for now, we want to learn all we can from those that came before us. It's great to be aboard FROG. Thanks,
Dennis

Welcome to the forum from mid California, I retired last January but continue to work part time as a consultant for the same company, I name my own hours work as much or as little as I please. Best wishes with the plan and most of all - Enjoy

Greetings Dennis and welcome to Forest River Forums!
Just to set some terminology straight, FROG is the Forest River Owners Group. It is sponsored by Forest River. They have a website here and that's an organization that you join.
These Forums are Forest River Forums with no business connection at all to either Forest River company or the FROG organization. We're just a group of RVers with a common tie that we (most of us anyway) own Forest River products.

Hello seems this thread died out a month ago. Still we too are very interested in the 8282 and the 8280. The later being a 2 slide with a pin weigh of about 1100. While the 8282 is a 3 slide with about 100 more pounds on the pin. While we really like the 8282 we are concerned with 2 issues
1. The floating table that looks to be useful but perhaps a nuisance to work and live with
2. The very small grey water capacity 38 gals (8280 has 76 gals)
With the 8280 we are concerned with the kitchen at the back and the potential for dishes vibrating out etc. and the site lines for watching tv ( we hope the tv swivels but cannot determine if it does.)
Anyone with thoughts or opinions on these concerns please chime in! And many thanks. We have a chev half ton so we are concerned with pin weight with both these rigs. On paper we have 1790 lbs for the pin weight plus load. We just weighed the rig with 3 adults and a full tank of gas and the available weight is more like 1550 lb yikes!
Many thanks

We have the Flagstaff twin to the 8282 with the moving table. There are pros and cons. I like being able to move the table all over the main living area. Since its just the two of us, we removed 3 of the folding chairs and just use one along with the desk chair. We have some outside folding chairs we can use for guests. The chair, when folded, is a nuisance since the only place to store it is in the lower part of the pantry. We prefer that area for jackets, shoes, etc. if you leave the table in one spot for too long, the wheels dent the floor. For winter storage, we put vinyl furniture sliders under each wheel

I am New to this site and using a smartphone as my laptop is not fun. LOL.
ANYWAYS I have 2013 26TBUD and so far like it pretty well. Only complaint I have is where I purchased the camp trailer there service department sucks. Never did a walk around with me so I am learning as I go. I use my camper as second home due to working and traveling around northwest for a rock crushing company. In winter months 5 days week, in warmer weather and total amount needing crushed 6 to 7 days week. I want to say I am glad I found this site.

We have the Flagstaff 8528RKWS which is identical to the 8280 and travel with the coffee maker and ice maker on the rear counter and never have a problem with them moving. I did install shocks on the trailer. We think this is the best of 9 trailers we've had since 1976. Have made a few mods, but this trailer has been trouble free once we got the driver side landing jack replaced.
Love the Sidewinder hitch as I tow with a modified full bed Under Cover tonneau cover.

We have the 8282ws. I admit the table can be a nuisance. If it didn't look so nice, I would almost consider ditching it for a folding card table. Would relieve a lot of weight as well. We only use 2 of the folding chairs and store them under the bed so we can use the lower panty for other stuff.
You can't beat the living area this unit gives you though. Every seat in the house is good for watching the tube with the dog sprawled out on the floor, and you can move around the camper without tripping over anybody.
Clearly, we love our.
