Hi all...about a year to go before retirement and thinking about a light weight toy hauler as I have several motorcycle and can't leave home without one. Have a lot of conflicting data on the towing capacity of my TV: 2009 Siverado 1500 LT 4.8 L V8 with "towing package"; extended cab 6'6" bed. From what I've read, data ranges from 4500-Lbs. to 6800-Lbs. Can anyone help with some actual knowledge? Thanks in advance...Hobbs

Welcome from Ontario. There should be a sticker on the drivers door telling payload and towing limits. I don't think either of those numbers you quoate are accurate. I have a 09 Ford 150 and tow is 9500 and payload is 1400. The numbers you have would be good if a Cnayon or Ranger or something like that but I don't think a 1/2 ton numbers would be that low especially with a "Tow package"

Welcome to the forum. I'd check towing cap listed on the drivers door. Later RJD

if the truck has a high rear end ratio, like 3.11, it can have a low towing capacity, even with a tow package.
the 4.8 was not a good towing v-8.
