New member Kansas/ Get out of debt!
Hi everyone! I thought I would join this forum since I am a new RV owner and I know I will need help with something. We bought a new Puma destination trailer to live in. We decided to sell our house to pay off debt and live on my mother-in-laws property (yes, we get along).
So far it has been fine. The first few weeks thus far I have learned a lot. I didn't know if anyone else on here lived in a Puma full time. The inside is a bit warm when temps reach 100 degrees (about 80 on the inside). I know that more problems will arise in the freezing months.
Thanks for having us!

Welcome. Remember most trailers insulation is marginal at best. With 2x2 sidewalls there is just too little room for insulation. You need to open the trwiler at night to cool it down, and close it up early and run the AC. Typical RV AC units are not much. Coupled with the lack of insulation you get what you have. Come winter time be prepared to use LOTS of propane to keep warm. What part of the cou try do you live.
Please understand this is really not a cheap way to live if your stationary. You will be using lots of electricity to cool or lots of propane to heat.

I think you're the first Puma destination trailer owner here.
Didn't know Palomino even made destination trailers.

what kind of temps do you have in winter in Kansas? Are freezing pipes gonna be a problem? You can add a second AC for cooler in the summer.

I'm not sure if your Puma destination trailer is connected to septic tank/sewer since your going to live in it permanently. One thing to remember is do not leave the black water dump valve open. If you do you will have problems with the holding tank. Fill the BW tank at least 3/4 full before dumping.
And Welcome to the forum from another Wisconsinite.

Sorry, I'm just responding now. I haven't been on the board since I wrote the introduction. I just wrote up a DIY for underbelly insulation that I'm hoping admin will approve soon. I used R-49 batting and R-6 foil faced foam boards. We will see how well it insulates those tanks, although they all have heating pads on them (hoping they work). So far we still have the same two 40 gallon propane tanks we bought with it. We have had a few cold days and have cooked since purchasing. I honestly thought we would run out quicker, but so far nope! We live in Kansas.

Sorry, I haven't been on the forum since writing this. So far the destination trailer has been great! It's very big. I would say that construction quality could be better, but considering we paid just under $30K for basically a home, I can't complain.

I just insulated the bottom of the RV with R-49 batting and R-6 foil backed foam boards. Hoping that will help with freezing. Tanks also have heat pads on them (came with the unit). We do have an extra AC in the King bedroom, but could definitely use a third in my girls room.
