New Member - Ordered new Silverback

Hello from Virginia!
New members and have a new 2016 CC Sliverback 29RE on order! Trading in a 2006 Special Order, Sunline! It was very difficult to go with a 5 wheeler after having a trailer with the quality that we had but the show at Harrisburg, PA convinced that this was the time to buy!

Lloyd,
Thanks for the welcome, I noticed that you have the same tow vehicle, what are you using for a hitch with a short bed? Also, did you need the Air Bags or was that an optional item. Wondering about hitch weight and how much sag I will have.

The bed on our GMC 2500HD is the 6 1/2 foot bed. I'm using a Reese Pro Series 16K Slider hitch....I changed to a slider because I was having trouble bumping the corner of my tri-fold bed cover in tight campgrounds and gas stations....I also have the TrailAir pin box on the Silverback....wouldn't have had the problem if I'd stayed with the factory pin box.....don't really know my true hitch weight but I know I'm at or slightly over the 6200lbs on my rear axle on my TV....we have a washer/dryer combo in the front bedroom closet and that adds extra weight.....I added the airbags for more stability and to lift the rear end after hooking up....my TV sags 2 1/4 inches...air up the air bags and I return to my original height.

Thanks for the info, I have been looking at the Pull-Rite auto slide, but comes with a price tag. Still have some time before pickup and just researching everything. Thanks for the input.

Welcome to the forum and the Silverback club. I have the Reese 16K manual slide and I added the Firestone Airbags. I was thinking Pull-Rite but that hitch weighs in about 300 lbs. About 2x the Reese. Something to think about since weight is already on your mind...

Thank you for the input, I want the hitch to be the correct one and setup the right way, but weight is always an issue to me. This is something I will consider.

Thumbs up

Welcome from Illinois,
I have the Pull Rite and I think it is great. It is easily removed from the truck bed when not needed.
Just remember to get the correct capture plate for your model pin box. When I ordered my 2015 CC the dealer told me one model number for the pin box but when I went to pick it up it was a different one. This caused problems which caused me to have to go to the factory to get resolved.
Also when taking it in for service the dealer took off the capture plate to move into the shop. When he put it back on the lot for me to pick up he didn't reinstall the capture plate. When I picked it up I didn't notice that the capture wasn't installed. When I pulled forward the pin box slid way back and damaged the top of the tailgate. (Dealer paid for the damages )
I bought the cover for the hitch to keep it clean when not hooked up. This cover also keeps the hitch from banging back and forth as you start and stop your truck.
