New Member With New Windjammer

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and to my 2016 Rockwood Windjammer 3029W with Diamond Package. However, I am not new to RVing and travel trailers -- I have several years under my belt. I have yet to peruse this site and get used to its forums and personality. I plan on starting that as soon as I post this thread.

My DW and I purchased our new Windjammer yesterday and we will take possession of it next Thursday, so I will be hunting around for posts related to it and learn as much about it as I can in what is sure to be one of the longest weeks ever.

Hopefully, I can be an asset to this site and contribute my experience and knowledge while, at the same time, learning new things and asking questions related to RVing, my Windjammer and life in general.

Thank you,

Bruce

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Windjammer. Our first TT was the 3008W and we loved the trailer. Made the decision to move up to a 5ver last year but had some nice memories of our V-nose last week when we met up with a fellow FROG who has a 3008W as well.

Enjoy!

Welcome fellow Windjammer

We have a 2014 3001w with Diamond package and love the trailer. You will find others curious about the wedge-shaped nose and the most common question is: Does it help with fuel mileage? We always laugh because there just isn't any way to know, but it does look like it should. We just pulled ours 5630 miles in June with my GMC 1/2 ton TV and had no issues. They pull easy, love the torsion suspension as the trailer rides easier than the TV I think. We have been very happy with the quality of the unit and have had very, very minor warranty issues with things like the shower door seal and mini blinds in the kitchen. Other than that, no issues in 18 months since we bought it.
If you have not had a TT with torsion tube axles, be very careful not to let anyone put a jack under the tube as it will bend the tube and permanently damage the axle. Pick up a Trailer Aid Plus and you will be able to raise one wheel without using a jack. Also, upgrade the tires to Goodyear or Maxxis with at least Load D ratings as soon as you can. I calculated the loading on my tires after I bought it and if loaded to the limits it is overweight for the OEM tires.

Congrats and good camping!

Welcome to the forum, and congrats. Enjoy your new Windjammer. We love our first TT, a 2013 3008W, and are now in the middle of our 4th summer with it. It has surpassed our expectations, as has this forum.

On a side note, I see you have way too much truck for towing your new rig and, just to save you great embarrassment and ridicule, I wanted to be the first to offer to trade you straight up. [But seriously, just let me know, I'll even come to you. ]

Thanks for the welcome, everybody!

Thank you, D_B Travelers for making me aware of the Trailer-Aid Plus! I just ordered one from Amazon. I have known about the Trailer-Aid since they came out, but used my Lynx Levelers. Now, with the extra height provided by the "Plus" version, I am a buyer.

Darn! I was wondering how long it would take for the Weight Police to catch on to my mis-matched setup. This is much sooner than I expected, though.

Welcome!! We got our WJ 3008W in April of this year and are loving it.

This forum is great as well, a lot of very knowledgeable and helpful people on here and everyone seems to be very friendly.

That's quite a TV you have there, shouldn't have any issues with the new TT.

Welcome to the forum and the world of the V-Nose. I know you will like it. We do not have the windjammer but do have the FR V-Lite or 2nd one. We got this one in Feb and really like the new floor plan. It also has the Diamond package First thing we did was get rid of the china bombs and installed Goodyear tires. Don't bother if getting new tires to put the Nit in the tires a waste. Later RJD

I've had mine since early May, used it maybe 3-4x. Been in shop 2x, once 2wks,2nd x 3wks and still there. Mostly minor stuff. According to dlr. FR takes their sweet time getting parts out. Maybe!

oven wouldnt stay lit, scare light on left side misinstalled... slide broke lamp bezel, rear blind broke cord, release button on dinette table fell out, buzz in tv/surround sound.. Like I said mostly minor, but, 6 wks out of service of the 11 wks. I've owned it. The only caveat is the weather here has been crappy.

Oh well!

Welcome aboard, great forums with lots of good info ( from real veterans of camping ) And now you have crossed over to the other side of the V nose. I average 14.7 mpg towing with my 6.7 I am sure the V nose is responsible.
