My name is Ron and my wife Linda and I have put a deposit on a Forest River Surveyor SV-301. It should be in tonight and we will probably complete the deal tomorrow. We have only seen pictures at this point so we hope it looks as good as the picts. It seems to have everything we want, including a larger bathroom and a full queen bed. We like the kitchen layout as well. I will be pulling it with a 2012 Toyota Tundra 4x4 with 5.7 L V8. Lousy gas mileage but a good truck. Anyone know what mileage this truck will get pulling the trailer?

Welcome to the forum...lots of good info on here. If you have a question...ask away, I do. Hey, we are just down the road in Smyrna. We camp alot at Cedars of Lebanon, Cedar Creek, Mt. Juliet, Bledsoe Creek State Park, slowly venturing out. We moved from a PUP to a travel trailer this past January, still learning the travel trailer stuff. Hope to meet you out in a campground...just look for our sign out front and the FRF sticker.

Mark, thanks for your response. We will have to meet up at some point. We live on the west side of Nashville and will probably head to Montgomery Bell State Park on our first venture out.

Thanks, Ron

Hopefully you purchased a weight distributing hitch and sway control with your trailer.

You should like the Surveyor. I've found them well built and solid. Well equipped for the price.

I think you have plenty of truck. One of my neighbors has one and also loves it, but complains he only gets 16 mpg on the highway (I think he's fibbing a bit). Expect 8-10 if you keep your speeds down.

Thanks Wincrasher, I am getting the hitch also and getting the electric brake controller put on my truck tomorrow. Looking forward to the Surveyor and will let everyone know how we progress.

Been there a few times with our PUP that we had. Going back up in November for a weekend....they do have sewage on several of the spots. Nice down by the creek...

mileage will be the same range as all v-8 gassers pulling a TT, 8-10 mpg.
pretty much the standard, no matter the v-8 nor the trailer.

diesels will be slightly higher.

it's the air resistance that affects the mileage more, than the weight of the trailer.

to the forums! I have a different TT and Tundra but I get about 11.5 mph. I have the smaller v8 engine but I camp solo which equals less stuff.

Welcome aboard

I pull a 29 ft TT with a Ford F150 Lariat V8. When not pulling I get 17-18 MPG on the highway. When I pull it drops to about 10 MPG.

Welcome to the forum... Lived in Nashville area for 12 years. My kids and grand-kids still live there. We camped at Cedar Creek (COE) in June and were very impressed. I keep hearing Defeated Creek CG (COE) is a great place to stay.

Go Titans....
