New Rockwood owner
Just picked up our new/used 8280SS fiver last week. A lot of elbow grease and it looks good as new. (Note the old Trail Lite looking on in envy in the corner)
Really appreciate the helps on the site, and hope to be a part of the FR forum for a long time!

It's an '05. It probably had less than 500 miles on it. Used for 2 outings and a full summer hooked up at a lake. Put tires on it and scrubbed and scrubbed. Only problem is the "mushy" floor that I wrote you (Mike) about.
I'm going to try your fix this weekend as my present to DW. (if my wife reads this, she's going to think I mean Darrel Waltrip! .
We've been looking for one of these white ones with the atrium windows for about three years. It's kind of rare, so couldn't pass it up, even with the floor problem.
My greatest worry was pulling it with my GMC half ton. I put Air Lift air cells on it and it pulled very well from St. Louis to Toledo. But I do believe our next truck will be a three-quarter of some kind for future trips thru the mountains.

NWC72,
Too bad you don't live closer. I'd help you with your floor project.
We bought a used 8283SS a month ago. We too have been looking for quite some time.
It's an '06 with all we were looking for except a slide topper, which I can always add later.
Rear living, Atrium slide, Free standing table & chairs and a few other amenities.
I located it in middle Texas. It too has low milage. I'm towing with a 1/2 ton also.
I started doing a few mods and will most pics later.
Good luck with the flooring support. Wish I had taken pics of our job.

Sorry to see that you lost your truck, Mike. I see that the hitch is all that is left!

Good catch, Dave.
I had to remove the hitch to pick up a load of bedding soil, for DW's flower beds.
You know the saying. "A man's work is never done." Or did that saying go some othe way?

Nice trailer and congrats! Its a great looking unit. I actually ran into a fella at the dealer last week who had the exact model as yours, but just an '07. From the outside, it look almost identical to mine and I had to make sure he was hooking up to the right one .
I felt bad for the guy though because he has been plagued with roof leak issues and was debating on whether to make a road trip down to FR in Indiana to have them look it over, already past warranty. The dealer was thinking FR cut the roof membrane too short and wasn't overlapping well with the sealing trim.
Anyway, have fun and enjoy the new Rockwood!

We have the same fifth and bought ours new in '05. We have about 17,000 miles on ours and love it. No problems since purchase, the only thing it has been in for is routine maintenance, brakes checked, repack bearings, fridge recall. Hope you like it as much as we do.
