New rockwood owner question

Just got a rockwood 2715vs a few weeks ago. My wife and I got an extended warranty from the dealer. It added 3000 to the price and is good for five years through a third party. It was a pretty hard sell. We realized we can cancel it within 60 days and can have that sent to finance company. We are full timing and realized that it is really inconvenient to pull it in for little stuff.

Would you cancel if I you were us? I am not really much of a handyman at this point if that helps with your thoughts.

Thanks!

I would cancel and get the refund for the aftermarket.
Did you buy the Forest River / Rockwood extended warranty for $150?

Yep, bet your dealer didn't mention the 2nd year FR factory warranty for only $150.
Most 3rd party extended warranties don't cover the important things, like delamination.

Most of us simply buy the FR 2nd year warranty, cause it's a no-brainer.

good question .I also bought a extended warranty cause they told me that the warranty on 2nd year does not cover very much that they gave me a discount and that price will most likely be higher when 2nd year expire. I paid 1900 dollars for it. it is Protective Asset Protection and I got the Platinum coverage. Paid for it separate didn't want it finance with the loan

Your dealer BS'd you.
The 2nd year FR warranty is the exact same thing as the original first year warranty.
All it does is extend the factory warranty for a 2nd year.

I agree with bikendan.... 2nd year extends the original first year. Delamination has been a primary concern and will cost you thousands of dollars if you don't get the extended 2nd year warranty. trust me, i got it and now I'm having 2 slide out walls replaced for delamination. not costing me anything. so glad I paid the $150 for 2nd year coverage.

I agree, get the refund and get the 2nd year warranty from FR, $150 well spent. Most anything that will go wrong will be within the first two years. We spent the $150, never used it, comforting to know it was there and didn't get ripped off. Our 2nd year warranty expires the end of this month.

For me, any kind of extended warranty on any product, is a rip off !
So yes, cancel it....the other thing with these, is most of them have a $ amount you need to pay for each claim 50 or 100 $ friends of mine told me.

If your concerned about covering repair cost in the 3rd thru 5th years (assuming you take out the 2nd year FR warranty for $150), put a portion or all of the $3,000 refund in a "shoe" and you'll still have all or most of it left at the end of the 5th year. I totally agree with the advice given above, 2 years of warranty with FR will sort out most ,if not all, of the issues you'll have with a new RV!

Dan and EastLakeRoo mention "delamination"

Everyone needs to realize the Forest River warranty MAY cover delamination if it happens due to a manufacturing defect such as defective adhesive. What it will not cover is delamination due to water infiltration caused by sealant failure after a limited amount of time. That amount of time is not one year or two years if you buy the additional year. I don't remember off the top of my head but I believe it may be 90 days, and is stated plain as day in the warranty disclosure.

Most aftermarket warranties do not cover it at all.
