Smile New Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8299BS owner

We will make our first RV purchase this Saturday when we take delivery of a 2016 Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8299BS! We are really excited, I am an avid backcountry camper but the wife is not so this will get her outdoors with me.

First off I plan to get a bike rack to hold our bikes and a fishing kayak and upgrading the trailer tires before our first long trip. Luckily we can camp in our driveway Saturday night!

Looking forward to tips and ideas from the community!

Good choice! Is it Me or is the rear side awning running ,Downhill? Also on the Bike Rack placement you should Read a Few Posts about this before buying one! Youroo!!

Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to the forum!
Enjoy your first camping trip in the driveway. You'll discover lots of nice things. It's a super unit.

Search and read up about any questions you might have and if you still have questions, fire away. There are lots of good folks willing to help.

We ordered and just took delivery of the Flagstaff 8529IKBS which is a twin to your 8299BS.
The floorplan and bed slide are perfect for what we wanted.
Here's ours.

The bike rack should be no problem on this unit.
The bumper is extended from the factory specifically for a fold-down bike rack to be mounted there.

Thanks y'all!

5picker I saw your posts earlier about your new unit so I am happy to see another new owner. We like the bed slide because the other models didn't give us the headroom to sit up in bed and read. Also the entertainment center in relation to the Lazy Boys and the counter space it offers.
The only thing I compromised was the shorter awning than the later versions and not sure if I cared about a curved shower door vs. the angled, we have the angled. The dealer gave me trade in deal that was way to hard to pass up on the 15 passenger van I had for trade!

Sounds like your dealer did you right. Making these big item purchases can sometimes make a person rethink if one is doing the right thing. Having the deal at the right number is an important part of helping make those decisions.

While we did get the longer main awning (and the omission of the small window above the awning) we didn't get the curved shower. Ours is angled too.
Still... lots to like about this model.

Make sure your wife understands the sliding bars on the HUGE double door refrigerator shelves. On a typical weekend trip, she will need to slide the bars to confine the stuff on the shelves because she'll have so much room in there! My DW (dear wife, you'll learn the forum abbreviations) learned the hard way the first trip. After that, the bars did the trick!

I would suggest awning pole hold down kits and poles for all the new 5er owners.

Am wondering what, if any, frame changes were made to use the bike rack... They sell at Lowes a caged nut that will save you some grief when put'n the license plate on as the plastic taps break fairly easy if you try to bend to get a nut on from behind.

The learning begins but so does the fun!
Enjoy! We won't get to play with ours again until spring.

I like the fact that you can store the bike rack vertically without folding up the rear ladder. Me and Millermatic are gonna work on that issue when this four day rain lets up. Get some awning pole brackets for sure.

New Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8299BS owner

Question #1: what are these? Looks like some type of shelf bracket. Found in a drawer. Figured they are a universal thing but if none knows I'll ask in the Rockwood forum.

Edit: some kind of TV stand I believe.

Yup, bet they're the stand for the TV supplied with your unit
Ours was a different TV/stand, but it took me a few mins to realize what it was when I found it in one of the cabinets

I do have a question for the OP? The frame looks the same as mine except it is extended, did they tell you how much weight it can carry by any chance. I know I can remove the spare and not carry anything over 45 lbs per FR factory. That's a big change, first time I saw that..... Also is that a new model they came out with in 2016? Looks like the Saber rack.
