New Sanibel 2012 but scary problem

We just bought this fifth wheel brand new and we took it for our vacation in North Carolina. this is a 800 miles trip. We choose Sanibel after looking at their website and seeing the quality of construction. On my arrival at the campground, after opening the slide-out, I saw 2 bolts that were loose under the sofa and table slide-out. they are stuck in rust and I cannot tighten them. there is a gap of 1 inch before the nuts is fully tighten. We love the trailer and the built quality. I'm kind of disappointed when I see this. Those 2 bolts are not hidden. They are in plain sight under the slide-out. why did those 2 bolt not taken care at the quality control check and how many are loose somewhere else ? This is a scary situation. Is the whole fifth wheel just lying on the frame with many of these bolts not tighten at all. The customer support at Prime Time tell me to try some wd40 and try to tighten them or go to the dealer where I bought the fifth wheel. Is it safe to go on the road now that I know there is 2 loose bolts and there may be more. Do anybody else had this problem ?

Shouldn't be a problem to tow it to the dealer for repair. The slide will be retracted and not likely to fall out. The important thing is to bring it to the dealer and get them to to a complete pdi this time.

for Rugged Brown: the problem is not the slide out. it is the whole fifth wheel that sit on the frame and is held by bolts on each side. it is 2 of these bolts that are loose.

I don't know yet what I will do. I tought they were going to say "could you bring it here at the factory in Indiana and we will check these loose bolts and go thru a complete check of the trailer" or "we will tow your fifth wheel to the nearest dealer and check it out". But that is not the way they took.

Unfortunate problem on something so new. However hearing that they sent a Forest River tech out to your location to rectify the situation is good customer service. They cannot be "perfect" from the factory but follow up speaks well of the Company.
Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum!

What a shock that must have been to see those loose bolts!

It is good to know that FR stepped up and set a tech to you to take care of the matter. Kudos to RVGUY and Forest River!
