New Surveyor owners in NE IL

Picked up our new Surveyor SP240 last week, shakedown trip is this weekend. Pretty excited.

TT: 2014 Surveyor SP240
TV: 2009 Ford Ranger Sport
Owners: Brian (me) & Maggie - Live in Orland Park, IL. I'm in IT, she works for a bank. Both of us are lifelong tent campers, our families owned popups when we were kids, but this is our first time owning.

Welcome to FRF!

but i have to warn you, you may be over the Ranger's specs.
i owned a Ranger and would never tow a 27'+ TT with it and you're easily over its towing capacity, loaded for camping.
unless you've dropped a v-8 in it and beefed up the axle and suspension.

We're just headed down to Kankakee River State Park, just down the road a bit.

The Ranger seems ok so far, it's got a factory tow package and we went ahead an got an Equalizer WD hitch, pulling it around town between the dealer, home, and storage a couple of times has been okay. Definitely feel the load but there's still a little left in the truck when I need it. There's room in the budget for a bigger truck if we find it necessary.

Bikendan, you were right, while we were able to get to the campsite and back with the Ranger, it clearly wasn't happy about it. Working on the paperwork now for an upgrade to a '10 F150 XLT 5.4L.

That will be a good choice. 5.4 is a good towing engine and the vehicle will have the 6 speed; much better than the older 4 speed. You will like your Surveyor. They tow great. Happy camping.
