New to 5th Wheels and Forest River

Hi All,

We recently bought our first fifth wheel and first Forest River product. We've had motorhomes for many years, but decided to go the fifth wheel route because so many fifth wheel owners swear by them. Also because i can get 12+mpg with the truck and trailer, but only got 5-6 mpg with the motorhome.

We split our time between a home in Vancouver WA and a home in Thousand Palms CA. You can figure out what part of the year is spent in each.

We are leaving on a 3 month trip across the southern US in a week. I have made this trip many years ago, but it will be a new experience for my wife. Maybe we will run into some of you on the road. Well, not literally.

to the forum. There is a lot of good information on the boards. What brand of fifth wheel did you buy?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new 5er!

We are also new to 5ers as of last Saturday in fact. Ours pulled like a dream and we couldn't be happier with our choice to go this route vs a Class A or TT.

Best of luck on your cross country trip!

Where are you all heading out to see on the trip? We have 2 "dream trips" we would like to go on..A northern trip running through Montana and then east to coast (fall colors) and a southern trip along the gulf to Florida then up to the Carolina's and back.

Oops, guess I left out what we got. It's a new 2010 Sabre 30rlds, being pulled by a 2009 Chevy 3/4 ton Duramax.

We wil be going east from SoCal, staying montly to the south because or the winter weather. Depending on time and weather we will head up east coast then come back west. I would like to come back through TN, AR, MO, etc., but not sure if the weather will work out in late March or early April. Time will tell.
