New to everything from Orlando

Hello,

My wife and I have been learning a lot from the members. Thanks for that. For us what started out as "Lets get a popup" grew into us ordering a '15 Roo 23ss. After speaking to a few people we have realized our older 4Runner will not be safe enough to pull it. So now we are shopping for a heavier and more powerful full size SUV or Truck to pull it. So I guess you could say we are fully invested from the start. We have 'everything" to learn as we are brand new to camping. We have two daughters and are looking forward to the adventure. If anyone has some expertise on our model and/or words of wisdom we are all ears.

Thanks,

Tylor and Natalie

Welcome! Words of wisdom? Just enjoy it, now that you have committed to it! We camped with our girls for many years and every one of us has many fond (and, yes, some not so fond) memories.

Congrats and good luck. You're off on the right foot realizing the need for a tow vehicle upgrade . . .

Welcome to FRF!

for info and help with your 23SS, go and start posting in the Hybrid/Expandable section here.
there's a Roo/Shamrock sub-forum where lots of us fellow 23SS owners hang out.
there are plenty of us to help you out.

06' with 4.0 V6 with 160k. 5000 capacity. Unit weighs 4400ish. The dealer said it will be OK with weight distribution/sway package. However some friends of mine with tow experience convinced me of the 'safety' factor especially while on highway. I'm looking at used Tahoes/Armadas/Sequioyas.

Gotcha. I think theirs is the V8 with a 6500 capacity.

Welcome to the forums and the RV lifestyle Tylor and Natalie from Huntsville, AL!!

May I make a small suggestion? Since you have decided to upgrade your Tow Vehicle (TV) AND you have 2 daughters (who will invariably want to bring friends along when they camp )....

Buy your TV with a eye towards your next camper - and trust me, if you become addicted to the lifestyle as most of us have, there WILL be a next camper

So, in your case, look toward a SUV/TRUCK that can tow, say, 7-8K of trailer or 5th wheel. That way when your wife, daughters and their 2 BFFs crowd you out of the Roo and into a larger trailer, you will not have to upgrade your TV as well

(In case you haven't figured it out yet...yeah, been there, done that! )
