Hello. I have a brand new 2012 forest river grand lodge 408 loft. Anyone else on here have one? We're having trouble with the hot water tank. Unwinterized it and we have no hot water. Any suggestions? I'm really hoping I'm missing a simple switch or something. Dealer provided us with several wrong manuals...water heater being one of them. : (

Check the bypass valve off of your hot water heater.

We have the bypass open.

The bypass should be closed. If the bypass is open, you are ?bypassing? the water heater. Not sure how many valves you have, but they should be this way:

The one in the middle is the "bypass" valve. You can do a search on here for water heater and get a ton of info. You are not the first with the problem or question.

I mistyped...tired and frustrated. Yes, we already had the bypass closed. Thank you for the pic. Guess I get to call for service tomorrow.

Not to insult, but have you turned on the switch, elec. or gas? Sometimes when we are tired.

Is the breaker on ? Or tripped? Is there a fuse blown?
Did you try the reset on the hw heater?

Some other quick ideas.

1) DC power is required for propane to heat water. Check battery isolation switch. Check fuse. If you have a meter check for 12 VDC power at the unit.

2) Check propane level. Water heater can draw a lot of propane and if the valves were opened too fast; the crash protection valve in the tank can close. This valve lets gas leak out but at a very low pressure; not enough to fire the heater.

3) Press the reset button on the High/low limit switches.

See attached manuals (not sure which one you need, but the photos in the manuals should held determine with one you have).

Also this would be a good time to buy a simple volt ohm meter and leave it in the unit.
They should give you one when you buy a new camper!
