New to Forum and 1st time TT owner

Hello All
We (wife, daughter 7 and son 4) just purchased our frist camper 2 weeks ago (just in time to put it away for the winter, Canadian eh!) ended up with a 2007 Surveyor SV291.
Rented a pop up this past summer and liked the camping part but could not stand the public shower part.
Looks like a great forum you all have here, hope you don't mind but I may have a few questions every now and then. We where so excited about getting the new camper and sleeping in the driveway that night, we did not spend nearly enough time with the dealer going over everything we should have. Needless to say I've made many a phone call back to the dealer asking many questions.
If anyone can help by pointing me to a good web site that will walk me through the winterizing of the water system for this TT that would be great. If I can I'd like to do it myself, instead of paying the dealer to do it for me.

Well that was long winded for my frist post!

Thanks in advance!

You'll get plenty of help with winterizing right here on the forum.

It's good to see another avid camper who has to shut down in October!!

Here is a pretty good overview of how to winterize your water system. http://www.fiberglassrv.com/winter.html
I should mention though that when it refers to the antifreeze intake line and valve located on the intake side of your water pump, there often isn't one of these valves or any built-in provisions for getting antifreeze in. You can buy or make a hose and fitting to go on the intake side of the pump. (a used handheld shower hose has the right thread for mine, probably would work for you as well. Just cut off the end that doesn't screw onto the shower wand.) Disconnect the connection from the fresh water tank and replace with this, screwing it in hand tight plus a little bit. Stick the hose into the antifreeze jug, then run the pump to pull the antifreeze through the water lines to all the faucets. BUT, be sure to by-pass your water heater before you do this or you'll end up with all your antifreeze sitting in it.

You can also search here under winterize. quite a few discussions on various aspects you might need info on.

Welcome Jamey, We also have an 07 Surveyor SV291. It seems to be a very well made TT. We are currently on our 4th outing in it(I had to drive back into work). Coming from a Hybrid to a full trailer was the hardest thing for me to decide. I loved my Hybrid, but with out a slide it was just too cramped with more than 2 adults in it. And we rarely have just 2 adults in ours. The fun thing about a Travel Trailer is making it your own. Spend the winter going thru old camping pictures and get some cheap plastic frames and some 3M Contact hangers. Take your old memories with you while you make your new ones.

Hi Jamey

We're just up the road from you in London. Ordered our first tt - an SV264 for delivery in the spring. Maybe we'll run into you at the Pinery next year.

Thank You

Thanks for all the advice, and warm welcome. I plan on doing the water lines this weekend, you'll all know if it works out or not for me, either I'II be back talking about something else or asking questions about the best way to clean up antifreeze!

Welcome to the FRF Jamey. We hope you find it useful and enjoyable and look forward to hearing from you with your new camping experiences. Don't hesitate to ask anything. We are all here to help, especially new campers. We were all there once and most of us did not have a resource like this when we were starting out.
