New to Forum from San Antonio, Texas

Hello Everyone-

New to this forum and look forward & excited being part of it.

My wife and I just purchased a new 2015 Coachmen Catalina 293RKS. So far, we are happy with our decision. It's light-weight and has most all the luxuries we will ever need (minus washer & dryer). We tow it with a new 2015 Ford F150 4x4 w/Eco-boost & Equalizer 1200 4-Point sway control hitch. Also, had the latest Furrion FOS48TA-BL rear camera-monitor installed. This newer, dual-antenna model had no problems pairing and kept a constant signal between camera & monitor. Although when backing up, I still use it only as a "visual aid"... I trust the hand signals and communications from my wife far greater. Being a rookie when it comes to backing up... I found that by taking a deep breath and backing up extra slow and cautious I have done fairly well and sure I will get better with more experience.

We took our truck-trailer out on our 1st camping venture to a very nice full-hookup site right on the Guadalupe River. The truck-trailer handled well together with no problems towing and we felt no big swaying issues on the highway or back roads. As far as hitch noise, we heard very little (but some). However, I have ordered a new "Hitch Hugger" featured in Trailer Life magazine + the "Equalizer Sway Bracket Jackets". Both are designed to help minimize noise. Any comments from users on either of these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and happy to be a part of this forum ,
CatalinaGuy

Welcome. We moved from SA 9 years ago. Loved camping around that area. And since 2 of the 3 kids, and 2 grandkids are still there, we get back often enough. Enjoy, and hope to see ya down the road.

EdJunior- Thanks for the reply. Yes, lots of great camping areas fairly close by SA. Our next camping adventure will be in Kerrville next month. Looking forward to it and "Happy Camping" to you and your family.

Thanks for the welcome. Since we already ordered both, shipped and on their way... we shall see how well the "Hitch Hugger" & "Sway Bar Jackets" perform.

One place I highly recommend is Concan. Either Garner State Park, or we stayed across the river at Parkview Riverside Park (Parkview Riverside RV Park | South Texas RV Park and Camping). Right on the Frio River. And you have to visit the bat cave. It is an awesome spectacle to see the 10,000,000 Mexican Freetail bats come out at sunset. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Cool, we will put it on our list. Thanks.
