New to Forum -- Need the help of an RV historian
Hello,
I'm Tom, from Tempe, AZ, new owner of a 1996 Wildwood by Rockwood fifth wheel. I have a problem identifying my unit. Here's what I mean: The fifth wheel is a Wildwood by Rockwood. But when I go to listings of trailers -- NADA, for example, the biggest Wildwood by Rockwood for that year is listed at 31 feet.
What I can tell from the VIN is that the unit was built by Cobra Industries, which went bankrupt in 1996 and whose assets were acquired by Forest River. So I'm thinking that this unit was acquired by Forest River, and rebranded and sold as a Wildwood. Nothing wrong with that, except that it makes it sketchy when you go to get it insured and the insurer cannot find a listing for it. As you can imagine, it's impossible for me to get an NADA valuation of it, too.
Cobra Industries, on the other hand, made two 35 foot fifth wheels in 1996, the Corsica and the Lumina. Why they would name them after unreliable Chevies is a mystery to me, but never mind. Is anyone familiar with these older Wildwoods. If so, how do I find them is the listings of RVs? How do you value them? Anything a newbie should know about them?
Many thanks.
