New to forum, not new to Forest River or campers.

Hello from the gulf coast of Florida! Like so many others we started out tent camping back in the 90s, upgraded pretty quickly to a used Rockford Roo. Enjoyed that for a while then upgraded again to a new Wildwood TT in 2009. We just upgraded again to a 2017 loaded Work & play 30WRS.

We are pretty excited to start camping again but unfortunately there is a story...we drove to Georgia to pick the new camper up a few weeks ago. We spent one night in it then left for home around 4am. At around 5am we were leaving a Pilot gas station sitting at a stop sign waiting for the truck in front of us to move when a tractor trailer turned too wide in to to the street we were on and hit the rear corner of our brand new camper! The damage is mostly confined to the shredded aluminum on the rear corner with some damage to the fiberglass on the side. The truck drivers insurance is dragging their heels though. We've started a claim, but can't get the adjuster assigned to us to contact us so we can start whatever repairs might be needed. We hope it's cosmetic but won't know for sure until we take it in to get it looked at. And we can't do that until the adjuster actually talks to us. Our son owns an insurance brokerage in Texas and told us that truckers insurance companies are the worst to deal with, so we were somewhat prepared for the stall tactics from the adjuster.

OH well, we have plenty of chores around the house to keep us occupied, plus the fishing in this area is about to heat up!

Thanks for the welcomes!

We finally heard from the adjuster today and the driver says he didn't hit us and since we have no independent witness they are denying the claim. I guess the wind from his truck passing caused the damage? what a crock. In hindsight we should have called the police but it was a "minor" accident with no injuries and the driver gave all his info to me after he admitting hitting me and apologized. I forget sometimes the world is full of sleaze balls like the driver and the truckers insurance adjusters main job is to deny claims, another sleaze all. Im not sure how dishonest people live with themselves. Moral of the story - no matter how minor the accident if you are hit by a tractor trailer CALL THE POLICE. And try to collect info from any possible witnesses nearby. We have progressive RV insurance so we had to file a claim and will let them fight it out. What a bad start for the new camper.
