New to motorhomes planning Alaska trip.

After towing Avion's since 1969 we made the leap to a 2012 Solera 24MS. We will be picking up our new MH this Friday afternoon 11/30/12 and taking a short road trip before heading home. This purchase was for a planned trip to Alaska via the Alcan Hwy. and returning in a month and a half via the Alaska Marine Hwy.

We were wondering if anyone out there has made the trip with a Solera or has done this reciently. Last time I was on the Hwy there was in 1972. Last time I was on the ferry with a RV was in 1969 so any updated info would be appreciated. We plan on heading north some time in mid May 2013 with stops at Glacier, the Canadian parks and the Icefields Hwy on our way to Dawson Creek and the Hwy.

elob tx We drove to Alaska in 2010 & 2012 mid May, both times in Class C through Great Alaskan Holliday rentals. In 2010 went up Alcan and in 2012 Yellowstone, Teatons, Montana, Icefields Hwy and Cassier Hwy. Going to Sun Hwy. in Glacier Park will not be plowed till June. In 2010 it was July. Great trip both times. Best time to go. Weather & roads good & not crowded, no bugs. If you like to hike trails will still have a lot of snow on them though. We just bought a Solera 24R and hope to take it there in the future. You will enjoy the trip. It is truly the trip or trips of a lifetime.

Congratulations on your new rig! We just bought a Sunseeker and plan to go to Alaska next year as well. Not exactly sure about our route or agenda, but it's on the list of places to go. :-)
