New to the Forest River Family

Good morning from gloomy Northeast Ohio. My husband and I just purchased a like new 2004 Forest River Flagstaff 5th wheel and I was thrilled to find this group. It is in just about perfect condition except for the front passenger side bend on the outside of the bedroom. It must have been hit by something because the metal trim is broken and needs repaired. Can anyone give me tips on where to buy the new trim? Thank you so much!
PS We are campground hosts and I currently live in our restored 1967 28 foot Avion Travel Trailer (like an Airstream). I am going to feel so spacious in the new 5th wheel! I can not believe the room in it!

Welcome, and congratulation on your new rig!

It would be helpful if you could post a picture of the damaged area. If you can swing it, one up close of just the damaged area, and one a bit further back showing the full length of the trim.

Is there any indication of a leak?

It may be repairable. If it needs to be replaced, and you're concerned about aesthetics, it might not be a bad idea to replace both sides so the colors match.

Welcome from Madison, AL Congratulations on the new 5th Wheel.

Are you camp host at the same park all the time or do you move from park to park?

Welcome to the forum. Did you purchase from a dealer or private party? If it was a dealer they should have repaired it. Next step go to a Forrest River dealer with model num, and make and they should be able to provide you with what you need. Later RJD

We did purchase the 5th wheel from a private owner and knew about the small damage. It's the lower corner on the front. There is not a leak but, it definitely needs some fixing. To answer the other question, we campground host at Beaver Creeks State Park from April 1st to the end of October. It's our second year and we hope to do a few other state parks next year. Thank you for the welcome. We look forward to soaking up all your knowledge.

That (Small) damage could cause Big damage if water enters this location! It can be repaired but it will also be Noticeable. The Factory would Replace the Sidewall$$$! It appears that the Damage was from a (Pickup Turn)? and Good Luck on your repair! Youroo!!

Welcome to the forum from Huntsville, AL!

Please feel free to share your CG Host experiences with us! Some of us (me in particular ) are interested in finding that sort of job when we retire!

For the time being, you should seal any openings in that front corner. Do you know how long it has been damaged (AND how log it has been exposed to the elements?) Once water gets inside the fiberglass shell all sorts of evil things can start to happen.

It was sealed right away and there were no leaks inside. We did a good check of everything. You would love campground hosting. Check the website for the State Parks or National Parks you might be interested in campground hosting for and they will have instructions for how you can apply. We had to fill out paperwork and have a background check done. We are to put in 20 hours per week, helping campers check in (we have self and online registration), cleaning up the campground, checking the restrooms, once a week cleaning fire rings, selling ice and firewood, and we show a movie for the kids on Saturday evenings. We are provided a campsite, electric, a picnic shelter and a storage shed at no cost. We meet great folks and have fun hiking, fishing etc on our off time. We do live only 10 miles away so, I can go home several days a week to keep things caught up. There is a great page on Facebook for folks to find out about campground hosts jobs available.

Boy you sure have a lot of duties for a camp ground host. Is it state parks or regular camp ground. Here if your a camp host our state park all you do is take care of folks coming and going and patrol the area a couple times a day. They have maintenance crews to do the other work. They also furnish you full hook ups and work every other week. Later RJD

Welcome from the southern shore of Lake Ontario! Beaver Creek SP is one of the campgrounds we've looked at to visit. Now we have more reason.
