Howdy Yall I have a chance at what I think is a great deal.
A 2014 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite Series , 3 slides. VERY good shape! ONLY $12,000 dollars!! One problem, Crashed in the back.
Been kind of soso repaired but needs a few cosmetic repairs inside AND I need to replace the big back window. Trying to find out where to get one right now.
Am I right, is this really a great deal for $12k or should I be worried about the repair on the back?
Hard to tell from the pictures exactly what the damage was. It looks like a crease on the side or is it decontamination from water damage? Seeing that window has me concerned about what kind of water damage that unit may have sustained from leaks at this point. Also was there any frame damage? I think you are looking at a lot of unknowns.
Is the seller telling you how the damage occurred? If there's damage to the fiberglass or water inside any gains from the low cost will be lost on repairs.
Someone ran into it. The bumper, tire carrier took the brunt of it. Had to replace the plate and studs under the window about 6 inches of subfloor across the opening where the chairs sit all with PT lumber. He also replaced the fiberglass sheathing , insulation on the back all the way across and half way up the window. sealed all with silicone, rubber mastic tape and that's white duct tape to cover the seams that you see. had to replace interior wall sheathing in same area with 3/8 smooth plywood.
No visible water damage, the underside, the covering on the bottom are all intact with no visible damage.
I know its not a best case situation. but again, from 3" past that back wall forward this unit is perfect.
As I wrote "Duct Tape" I thought what am I thinking here? I was hoping myself or an RV service center could complete the repair properly for a minimal cost?
Personally I don't know what a Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 2 years old would cost however I know $12,000 is STILL a lot of $. My advice is offer
them ALOT less than the asking price. The trailer is damaged and from
experience I know almost no one will touch that trailer. You are buying
ASSUMING you will have no problems down the road. But if you do & have
to scrap it (worst case scenario) how much money are you willing to loose? Don't worry about insulting the owner. Remember he's not willing to use it.
I saw a 16 used on RV trader for 19k. It's got few more upgrades but is essentially brand new. Personally I'd pass knowing it was rear ended. DW is an insurance claims manager, says you'd be hard pressed to get a company to help with any future issues. Good luck.
