New to towing

Hello, this is our first truck and camper! Little nervous towing with noises and some swaying. Is it normal to have rpm between 2000-2500?

Welcome. Lots of questions to ask...
Size and type of trailer?
What tow vehicle?
What kind of noises??

And no... swaying is not normal, however, we can probably get you settled in with a bit more info.

More info is needed. What tow vehicle,? what trailer? For some combinations that RPM is normal especially in Tow mode if used.

You should b using some type of Weight distribution hitch(WDH) with your trailer. Also you did not mention gear ratio or engine size or speed you where driving, so I would say that the rpm may be right for about 60mph. Later RJD

Yes and sway bar. Still feel some swaying at times. Just want to know if that's normal.

Years ago, I pulled a similar sized trailer with a Nissan Titan. There should be no noticeable sway. Tighten the sway bar.

IMHO some swaying, especially when a long semi is passing you at a high rate of speed or in a strong cross wind is normal. However, although as you feel a slight sway, at no time should you feel "out of control" or be unable to keep the trailer from a dangerous sway pattern!

Sway that doesn't go away after a vehicle passes or you pass is where you want to be careful. You're dragging a box so wind approaching from the sides will pull and push you. If sway generates "on its own" is when you need to dial in your anti sway apparatus. You didn't say what type of wd and sway control you're using.

PS..I don't seem to have too much of a problem with semi's. I think those drivers tend to be aware of the affect they have on us. It's those tour buses that affect me. They fly on the highways.

Some short sway when a large truck/bus passes is normal. Can be managed better with proper hitch setup.
And noise (popping, grinding etc) is not uncommon.

Suggest that you experiment with tire pressures a bit. Sometimes a few PSI can make a difference.

Google "Trailer sway control" for some info.

I don't know what tires you have but when I changed from the stock P metric tires and went with LT E tires it made a huge difference.

All the above with the addition of keep your speed in control. My experience is the higher the speed the more sway I get. Remember the tires more than likely have a max speed range of 65 mph.
Be safe and

Oh and as far as noises... you should hear my Dad's Rage'n toy hauler. That thing sounds like the axles are breaking any time he goes over a speed bump. It's a well built toy hauler but man that thing is noisy!
