New to Travel Trailering

Hello to all here on the forum.
The wife and I have now Finally decided to take the plunge and join the ranks of trailer traveling.
The unit we have now decided on (believe me it was a hard decision) is the Rockwood Mini Lite 2306.
The reason for this decision is my tow vehicle. It is 2003 Dodge Dakota and I believe that this trailer is right weight and size that my truck is capable of towing/pulling.
Now that being said, I would appreciate any and all suggestions as to any issue that I might have with this combination.
The wife and I are looking forward to many trips either just the two of us or taking the grand kids with us camping. (We got the one with the three bunks for this reason also).

Welcome Get-Us!!! We got our Mini Lite a year ago and have enjoyed it. Just keep checking back at this forum. This is where I learned most of what you need to know, don't want to know, need to buy, shouldn't have purchased etc.. It is customary here to post pictures of your new unit when you get a chance. Welcome to the forum! Wishing you many good camping trips. Lots of good information on here, if you need something, just ask. We started out tent camping, then moved up to a Pop Up. Learned a few things with it on what to look out for. Then we moved up to a travel trailer, somewhat different from the Pop Up. I am still learning things with it. My little advice is: Tilt your awning if it is going to rain, learned the hard way. Always something to learn....

Welcome to the group and the world of camping in a TT. What are some of your concerns?
Things to keep in mind:
Stay a few hundred pounds under the max tow weight for your tow vehicle.
Check tire pressure on both vehicles before each trip
it connected to sewer at camp ground don't let the black water drain continuous. Let it get to 2/3 or better full before draining (this is to avoid poop mountain).
make sure you use toilet paper that dissolves.
if you are going to camp grounds with only water and electric consider getting a "blue boy" or other brand so you can drain tanks without having to disconnect and tow to the sewer dump. Of course if you are on a short trip then be sure to hit the dump station on the way out. No need to haul that back home with you.
We make it a point to use the camp ground facilities most of the time if we don't have a sewer hook up.
Get a really good weight distribution and anti sway hitch (Equilizer is what we have). don't forget to check the tongue weight for trailer and tow vehicle and that the tongue weight is subtracted from the max load the tow vehicle can haul.
