New Travel Trailer Owner

Hi! We just picked up our 2012 Salem Tbud travel trailer this past Saturday and are heading out this coming Saturday. We had a pop-up and are very excited about 'moving on up." The people at the dealership were very helpful, but now that we have it home, we have some questions. Does anyone know where we can find an operating manual?

The operators manual is very generic and covers very little.

You should have gotten a very large package with all sorts of information. Including the totally worthless owners manual. But in it you should find manuals for each appliance telling you exactly how to operate that appliance. Any other questions feel free to ask here.

you should have gotten the useless and generic owner's manual, along with the useful manufacturers' manuals for individual things, like the a/c, furnace, oven, converter, fridge/freezer, slide, water heater and so on.

As other's said the FR manual may not help but the separate system and appliance manuals should help.

What are your questions? We can probably help you more than some stinking manual

Thanks for the responses

I have a couple of questions now - probably more later. First, what is the best way to run the refrigerator while we are traveling to the campground? Second, if we camp at a full service site, do we wait to empty the black and gray water when the tanks are almost full?

select auto on your fridge then it will be gas when there is no shore power and when you hook up to shore power then it will switch to electric.
no WE use our fridge going down the hiway but thats a big topic around here weather to do it or not . IVE NEVER had a problem.

dump at the end of your weekend camping trip black first then gray second.

Turn on the gas purge the air and start the refer on gas. Should be an auto feature select that and go. Yes dump the black tank when at least 3/4 full. I usually leave the gray open closing it on the last evening. I then use gray water to flush the hose after emptying the black tank.

Add some water to your black tank before using the throne. Helps keep things from drying out and sticking to your tank surfaces and sensors. When you get ready to head home and after dumping and rinsing your tank add some more water to allow some sloshing as you drive. This helps loosen anything you may have missed during the dumping/rinsing process. Do this last step only if you have somewhere to dump when you get home. I have pasture full of horse poop so I pull the valve as I drive through it. I too leave the gray open until the last evening. Two or three showers usually will fill my gray tank up the next morning.

So there is no problem with the pilot blowing out on the fridge while driving down the road?

Not if your outside panel for the fridge is in place. And there is no "pilot" the flame is ignited by 12 volt electronic igniter. We've taken 4 8-10 hour trips with the fridge running on propane and arrived with my beer still cold while I set up.

Traveling with fridge on gas

Just be cautious when pulling in to gas stations and fueling the TV. It's advised you shut the fridge down before you pull to the pumps unless your fridge is way back on the trailer and it is well away from the pump islands.

Yeah, if you leave the black tank valve open all weekend, you figure out what the term "poop pyramid" means....
