New young member in Kansas

As my username indicates, I'm a new member, 23 year old male, currently in Northeast Kansas to go to graduate school. My family were RVers for years, and I loved living the RV lifestyle. We typically had an Airstream, as that was my father's passion, but I certainly can't afford one of those for a long time! I graduated from college, and landed my first full time job while going to grad school, and just bought my first RV of my own! It's a 2009 Rockwood Mini Lite 1809 that I purchased used from a dealer in St. Louis. I got lucky, and found one in excellent shape that was clearly well taken care of, with no delamination or water damage. Currently pulling it with my 2009 Silverado 1500 2WD 4.3 V6 (Yeah, I know, it's a V6.) I set it up with a Tekonsha P3 brake controller, 11X9 stacked plate transmission cooler, and OEM-style towing mirrors. Looking forward to lots of great memories made in it, and glad to be a part of a community that has been so helpful already. Even though I'm not a complete rookie to the RV scene, I have enjoyed getting to brush up on my knowledge, as it has been a few years since I traveled with my family.

Thanks to suggestions from the forums here, I have already gotten my rig weighed, but that's for another thread!

And, finally, since I know everyone loves pictures, here's a quick shot of my rig on the trip back from the dealer to pick it up:

See you all out on the forums (and the road!)

Toby, I'm actually in the small town of Atchison, so I'm about 3ish hours south of you!

The truck does pull the trailer nicely. I definitely know it's there, but it's a comfortable drive, and I get about 11.5mpg (hand calculated. The lie-o-meter on the dash says I'm getting between 13-14, which I know ain't happening). In the pic, I still had 360 lbs of sandbags in the back of the truck (2wd in the snow), so it was squatting quite a bit more than it does normally.

Thanks for the warm welcomes so far, folks!

Welcome from a KU grad--lived in Lawrence for seven years. Went to grad school with a woman from Atchison, Courtney Peltzer. Maybe you know someone in her family with Atchison being a smallish town and all. Anyway, moved away from Lawrence 12 years ago and, like you, am currently enjoying my first TT. Maiden voyage this weekend!

Happy camping!
