Hi all,
Thanks for the very helpful information in this forum. My husband and I are rather inexperienced RVers but do love it! We live in Greenwood Village, CO.
My husband and I are looking at a 2010 Lexington 255DS. We currently have a 2006 RVision Town and Country Touring Sedan. We love our current RV for the driving convenience (23ft long). We are looking to upgrade to a bigger unit because we really want a permanent bed - after 12 hours of driving, the last thing I want to do is make a bed out of the two coaches in our current camper.
Dilemma - we want to stay under 30ft in length for driving convenience. the forest river lexington 255ds meets this criteria as it is 27 ft. we test drove one and were shocked at the difference in get-up-and-go between our current model and the lexington. The lexington is on a Ford E450 chassis. We had to floor it to get onto the highway and it still only got to 55-60 mph. When we told the dealer about it, he first said that we would experience a much different driving experience due to the weight difference between our Rvision and the Lexington. We pretty much decided we would keep what we have based on the experience. Then - another guy at the dealership said he drove the Lexington back from an RV show and noticed that it did not have much power. They are now thinking their is something that Ford needs to look at and have brought it to a Ford Service center.
Questions: Does anyone have any input on how the 2010 Lexington 255DS drives? Does it have any get-up-and-go or was our experience a typical one? If indeed there is a problem with the unit we test-drove and Ford fixes it, should we go for it (it is not a used unit, it is brand new) or should we order one instead (afraid if it already has a problem, could be a lemon).
Sorry for the lengthy note - appreciate your input/feedback!!!
