Good Morning all! So excited to be a part of this forum. We just bought a new FR Rockwood Windjammer ultra V. Will be traveling West to California from Indiana. Would appreciate suggestions for campgrounds traveling south and west. Looking forward to reading the forums. Very excited and hoping to meet you some day.

Welcome to the forums from SoCal! When will you be traveling to CA and also what of the state? BTW - There's a FROG rally planned for the spring in SoCal.

Welcome to the forum from the Heart of Middle Tennessee. On traveling...they are several apps available for Iphones, etc on places to stay. Many of the states have Pocket Ranger Apps, etc, KOA's have a good one...just a few suggestions.

Thank you all for the quick responses. I feel like we are apart of the community already. We will be taking 31 to 65 South to 40 W across to 30 to 10. All suggestions for things to do, places to go and stay are welcomed. Our hobbies are astronomy, rockhounding, and gold panning. Looking forward to our trip. Will send messages as we go providing we have internet. :-)

Not sure what time of the year you will be traveling but I would go farther south than I-40. During the winter months it can get pretty dicey, freezing and gusty.

Very true I40 can get pretty bad during the winter months. Even I20 through Texas can get ugly.

Couple of off the beaten path things. The Gila Cliff dwellings near Silver City NM. And the Biosphere 2 near Oracle Az.

As to rock hounding maybe around Quartzsite Az. There is a large rock & Gem business there and I believe places in that area to find rocks & gems

Weather for I-40 during March is normaly around 40-50 but at night it can dip into the 20-30 range. I would try to stay south of it, or be ready for it.
