Newbie from Florida

Hello, my name is Wayne. My wife Kim and I are new to the RV world, proud new owners of a 2012 Flagstaff V-lite 30WFKSS! We started doing "primitive" camping a year or so ago and have now "graduated" to the travel trailer world. We just took possession of the unit this past weekend, and after some practice backing up ( never done so with a trailer before!!!!) we brought it home to clean and stock it. It is now stored and ready for us to take camping VERY SOON!

I have enjoyed reading the forum thus far to get information about our model in particular and RV camping in general. I certainly welcome any feedback or advice any of you might want to share. I am sure that I will be asking questions and joining threads, so please forgive me if I start to be annoying!

I'm glad we have joined the group, and look forward to talking to you all!!!!

Sincerely,

Wayne and Kim

2012 Flagstaff V-lite 30WFKSS
Towed with 2002 Chevy Avalanche 4x2

Looking 4ward 2 Happy Camping!!!

Welcome aboard Wayne and congrats on your new trailer!

Ask away. You'll benefit us all by giving us another reason to talk camping and trailers. We're all enthusiasts here

Congratulations on your V-Lite. We know two different couples who have the same unit, and we've been so impressed with it that we just ordered the Rockwood version of it - the Windjammer 3008W.

Welcome to the forum. Where ya' at in Florida?

Welcome to the forum. We are Orlando, FL residents and have a 2012 Flagstaff V-Lite 30WFKSS. Great trailer. We are headed to Collier-Seminole SP in March and looking to go to Paynes Prairie Preserve in April. Maybe we can meet up sometime. Kris and I have been RVs for about 3 years now.

Congrats, and welcome to the RV world! I've heard good things about this application for your phone: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rv-c...324900531?mt=8

It's a RV checklist to help you on your trip. It's only a buck.

Welcome Wayne & Kim...hope you love rv-ing. So mant great places to go and see.

Brandon suggested an iphone app... be careful.

I have a couple of apps and they can not be counted on! The level sucks as well the compass and flashlight. I prefer the dependable old fashioned kind. Either way get out and enjoy your RV.

We promised ourselves we would use ours once a month...so far we have kept the promise to ourselves.

Congrats on your 2012 Flagstaff V-lite 30WFKSS. I started off tent camping but that did last too long. The ground seem to keep getting lower and harder with each passing day. Having an RV is so nice so you should really enjoy your Flagstaff.

Happy Camping!

Hey Wayne 7 Kim... you need to hook up with "Daisy Boykin" aka Sid & nancy Brown... They too live in the JAX area. They have a Rockwood 5er.

With the number of parks in Fla. it will be a long time. We also want to do a western trip and an Alaskan trip. So many places so little time.

We have stayed at Blythe Island Regional park several times. Very nice place, full hook up, Wi-Fi, cable TV, very nice slots with concrete pad for outside the door. When traveling back from NC and VA it is out place to stay.

Have Fun!

Thanks to both of you for the advice regarding apps - I had not thought about that! I already use the flashlight app a lot, but planned on having a real flashlight, level, etc in the TT anyhow. But a checklist kinda thing hold be great - and I love my apps!!!

Thanks Triguy! I fully intend to pick the brains of you and the many RV owners out there - has been an excellent resource already. My wife tells me I over analyze things, but the TT is a big investment as well as a big item physically, so proper usage, maintenance, and safety are concerns 4 me!

Wow, you guys are really making use of your unit! We will mostly be doing weekend trips at least at first, but we may try the whole week thing at some point. We are still trying to figure out where and when we are going, but I will keep in touch and let you know some info. I know we intend to go to Flamingo Lake in Jacksonville when it warms up (I want swim ), though that is not a state park as you mentioned. I think Rainbow Springs is and is on our agenda, is is Fort Clinch in our own area (they have 2 parks, one on river, the other on beach - check them out!).

I look forward to meeting if our paths should cross!

Howdy neighbor!

With the close proximity we may well cross paths at some point. We are going to hit many parks in the north FL area until I am more comfortable with longer road trips. If you have some suggestions, feel free to share!
