Newbie from Lancaster County,PA

We just purchased a new 2014 Salem 30QBSS from our local dealer. We should be taking delivery in a couple weeks. My wife and i owned a camper 15 years ago but now with 4 kids we are excited to do some camping. Any info/suggestions would be great. Thanks and happy camping!!!

Welcome! Who did you buy from?

In PA, a Thousand Trails Membership is a great buy if you're good for RVing vs. classic camping in the woods.

We shopped around at about every dealer around but we bought at Stoltfus Rv in Adamstown PA. Gave us what i thought was a pretty good deal and the salesmen was great and really helped us out, even after stopping back about 6 or 7 times with 4 kids...lol....

We worked with them looking at a Prime Time unit. We didn't buy from solely because we went with a Sabre (which they didn't carry). Good people- treated my wife well when she stopped out.

Congrats on your new Salem! Check out some local campgrounds. You don't always need to drive far to get a good place or to have fun. Sometimes I just head to a place about that's about 8 miles away so I can spend more time camping and less time driving. With that said, I also like to travel a bit too.

Very cool! Congrats!! Let me guess. You dealt with Lee? We bought our 5er there in fall '12. What a great dealership and salesman. Was just back there for warranty work last week. A++. Straightforward good old honesty and customer care. Recommend to everyone within comfortable distance.

Welcome! I bought from Stoltfus as well at the Hershey show and was pleased when my sales rep even followed up with me after a few months.

I am sure youll enjoy the RV. I have not found thousand trails that useful in the area to join, but the KOA memebership has worked well for me as well as the good sams since I do shop at camping work time to time.

There are some great campgrounds/destinations within a reasonable tow for you as well. Williamsburg, Luray, Burnt Cabins (tuscarora mountain area, there is a state park with swimming lake, a trolly museum, East Broad Top steam rail road, and a 200 year old operational grist mill), Senneca Lake area of NY (Watkins glen and surrounding which is gorgeous in summer.)

Congrats on your new Salem. Looks like your rig leveled out pretty well. There is alot of tongue weight to tame on these. Enjoy.

We usually go to Old Mill Stream campground next to Dutch Wonderland on Rt. 30. Nice area and close to the Pa RR museum and Strasburg RR.

How do you like old mill stream? Thought about going here but don't like crowds. Thought cause it's close to the outlets I wouldn't be happy. Any good?

Old Mill Stream is our favorite campground. you're right close to the outlets in crowds. But it's easy to drive around. my kids love it there. The staff is very helpful and kind.when we left on January 1st the staff said they're going to expand some of the sites with more pull throughs and will be available this upcoming season.

Just signed up today, but I bought a 2008 Forest River last July.
I have been having various leaks and here and there and wanted to what info I can find help fix my issues. My wife, daughter, and myself love our camper!! We just joined last november to Indian Cove Campground in Va Beach, Va. near Sandbridge Beach, and cant wait to use it this summer in peak season!!
Thanks,
